I thought CWU officials were like Unicorns and Fairies imaginary creatures to find out they exist in real life has blown me awayPOSTMAN wrote: ↑07 Sep 2021, 17:03https://royalmail.workplace.com/groups/ ... 428012424/
Woaaaaah we are getting slated on there.
First off, I have been a bit ill and have not followed this thread (since I posted the letter ) and I have just skipped through it today, I hope you guys are not breaking our number 1 rule please.
I will not comment on there and I never will, bit obvious.KNOWN PERSONALITIES WITHIN ROYAL MAIL AND THE CWU
It is fair to say that those in the 'top jobs' come in for a lot of criticism on this forum, please post constructive criticism and nothing else. Any libellous or slanderous posts will be deleted or amended, in no way should these personalities have any abuse aimed at them, period.
Good to see that WE on here has given that lovein over there their biggest thread, all be it from just quickly looking through, we're getting hammered.
This site is NOT ON FACEBOOK, I did kinda see that possibly mentioned.
I will continue to post up the bollox that goes on in there, whether you agree with it or not, tbf if I am honest, I personally call it bollox but the vids and any quotes are what they are, I suppose I agree that it's not all bollox, but most is. (My personal thoughts)
There is some embarrassing brown nosing on there and I will look in the thread to see who is slagging us off...
I was going to do a 'This week on Workplace' thing like myroyalmail does and thought it was a bit childish, but...
I will over the next day or 2 go through the whole lot and decide what to do if anything, I will calm down 1st.
I am actually having a row with a CWU official at the moment, it's like busses this.
Remember guys please be careful what you post and watch the language.
Ta.

Re: A letter from Simon Thompson
Well I just binned my letter when I read "Clear your office, not just your frame". Sorry nothing to do with me I have no influence over how many days work is in the frame when I get in on a morning.(Part time cover for 3 walks) Pretty much all this summer I turn up to a frame with multiple days work waiting, On several days last week and this week I was faced with more work than was actually physically possible to fit more into a frame which was already full. Customers I spoke to had not had any mail for about a week and found it unbelievable that this situation was allowed to exist. (I would agree with them). So please don't tell me to clear the office when its impossible to clear my frame at what is supposed to be the lightest part of the year!

Are you PT? You can't pay anything above x1 rate for additional hours UP TO FT otherwise PT staff working additional hrs would be paid more than FT which would be illegal.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑05 Sep 2021, 19:54
If you want people to stay out past their contracted hours doing delivery as overtime, make it double time.
If you are not prepared to pay us what its worth then dont complain when theres not a queue out the door to do it.

Re: A letter from Simon Thompson
From my understanding it wouldn't be illegal. This is due to PT staff who pick up overtime aren't always doing the same as FT staff. FT hours are made of prep + delivery. If a PTer is coming in and just doing delivery overtime they should get a higher rate as prep and delivery are not comparable. If they were we can then argue bottom line staff are being paid illegally vs managers.freespeech wrote: ↑09 Sep 2021, 06:43Are you PT? If there is a different reasoning to this, i stand corrected.

Re: A letter from Simon Thompson
sorry, but not read the whole posts yet, but from what i can make out you are saying a PT contracted to say 30hrs and if they did 38 in the week should be paid more than a FT simply because it's all outdoor walking delivery? by that reasoning if they also did some parcel runs then it should be paid lower because they are sat down most of the time whereas prepping is stood up,WASD wrote: ↑09 Sep 2021, 11:16From my understanding it wouldn't be illegal. we get a flat hourly rate over the whole week, it's really that simple,
yes you can negotiate a fixed time to complete a row or two, which would be overestimated and there you get your "extra" but you can't have people in the same job getting different rates of pay (with the exception of london)

But we do all ready with ex PHG's and their allowance and people who have Mech Trained Duties and their TPM payments whereas anyone who covers them doesn't receive the said payment.world class male wrote: ↑09 Sep 2021, 14:55sorry, but not read the whole posts yet, but from what i can make out you are saying a PT contracted to say 30hrs and if they did 38 in the week should be paid more than a FT simply because it's all outdoor walking delivery? by that reasoning if they also did some parcel runs then it should be paid lower because they are sat down most of the time whereas prepping is stood up,WASD wrote: ↑09 Sep 2021, 11:16From my understanding it wouldn't be illegal. but you're on about the same job as regular posties, another for instance,
say PT & FT pair agreed to cover an extra duty on overtime, they both did their usual shift and start overtime, say it takes 2hrs between them and the PT would get paid more?
i'm all for drivers getting an extra premium but different rates for the same job? no

Re: A letter from Simon Thompson
My point was the (potential) argument that FT and PT jobs are the same is incorrect, if this is the reasoning for overtime rates being different due to the legal reason of the jobs being the same.world class male wrote: ↑09 Sep 2021, 14:55sorry, but not read the whole posts yet, but from what i can make out you are saying a PT contracted to say 30hrs and if they did 38 in the week should be paid more than a FT simply because it's all outdoor walking delivery? by that reasoning if they also did some parcel runs then it should be paid lower because they are sat down most of the time whereas prepping is stood up,WASD wrote: ↑09 Sep 2021, 11:16From my understanding it wouldn't be illegal. The OT rates are not different. You are comparing additional hours up to FT with overtime hours after FT. Any additional hours a PT performs up to FT hrs are at single rate. This is not overtime.
Example: To make it easy let's say FT is 40 hrs per week at £10 per hr so FT person earns £400. Let's say OT hrs after 40 hrs are £15 per hour.
If a PT person works 20hrs per week they will get £200. If they worked 40 hrs per week at the same OT rate (£15) they would earn an additional 20 hrs x £15 (£300) so they have now been paid £500 for the SAME hrs as the FT person on £400. This is illegal. They will get single rate pay so the same £10 per hour for the additional 20 hrs.....£200 extra so £400 total SAME AS FT. After the 40 hrs any additional work will now be at £15 per hor the same as the FT person.

I understood point before, but i would to know the reasoning outside of it's illegal. What law does this fall under? The jobs are not the same, and not fairly comparable.

We're really feeling the pressure in our office more than ever. For some it's almost a sense of PTSD coming on. Some of us have been advised to take out the collapsed loops even if it means leaving a few loops of our own regular walks. Weird logic, I reckon.

Do the DIMs want you to prioritise lapsing because...
A) Its on a different budget or something? (Is it?)
B) it looks good on paper? After some creative book-keeping that is
C) they hope your loyalty to your own walk/ prospect of huge own walk tomorrow will get you to deliver more?
