I got two letters.

One was clearly a satirical skit on corporate expectations versus reality which was very funny. Who knew that RM managers were such hilarious clowns?

It was from a guy called Si. Thanks for the laugh Si.

The other letter was £90 free share dividend.

Whatta light-hearted and remunerative day...brilliant!

A couple of roads on the bolt on delivery in my office finally received their first delivery of the week today. Hospital Appointments, Birthday cards all amongst it. Royal Mail is an absolute shambles. That letter i got this morning just proves they haven't got a clue. Harping on about us taking stickers out for customers to put on their packets. Customers are shunning parcel collect. We cannot be trusted to turn up and collect them. Who wants to wait in all day just so we 'may' turn up to collect? And these managers are being paid a fortune to come up with these stupid ideas!

This 'team' of yours Simon is heading for relegation.
I get what your saying, but all I see on delivery are people who barely leave the house and constantly order s**t they don’t need, give it 5 years and they will close the schools down and teachers will zoom the whole class, it is only going to get worse for us and a whole lot better for people who work from home.

I will not be clearing my walk if the workload is unmanageable.

I will not be clearing the office/lasping etc. either.

I will be arguing with the DOM on a daily basis

I will work my hours each day.

I will finish at my finishing time.

End of.
I`m a reserve, next week I`m covering a full time walk, and it`s a lengthy one, on my own. If the parcels are as bad as they`ve been this week, there`s no way I`ll be taking out lapsing. I`ll be taking my time, claiming my overtime, AND taking my break.
Today we got back just after time, and our DOM was loading a van with parcels to take out by himself. He`s a decent enough bloke, and I feel a bit sorry for him because he`s being leant on by "upstairs", but "upstairs" needs to know how bad the situation is. Besides, I guess he`s on decent money and an hour`s overtime wo n`t kill him. Everyone went home regardless.

People emerging from houses with all the curtains drawn, wearing a dressing gown, at 3 in the afternoon. Yes, them.

Well with managers doing Postie's work, 'upstairs' aren't necessarily going to know about the real requirements in certain offices. My guesses are he's probably not reporting/claiming for that hour.
'Upstairs' may be getting a wrong picture entirely due to certain offices lack of reporting failures.

A lot of shopping has been moving from being done in physical stores to online, I think Covid has just massively accelerated that change

Not sure about "a whole lot better". Most of these people are absolutely miserable buying crap they don't need to make their miserable lives feel a bit better for a few seconds. A lot of these home workers will soon be having back pain, obesity and mental health problems if they don't already. I pity them. In fact since covid they disgust me!

No s**t! It's accelerating a lot of other stuff too, in terms of tracking your movements, gathering your data, placing conditions on what you can do/where you can go, and being the pretext, I believe, for ushering in a new paradigm for life as we once knew before!...

True. I think it's just the unbelievable volume and increased size of things plus the lack of thanks and respect for us that has crept back in. You end up despising the customer. It's unfortunate. I need a new job!

I took it on board today and decided to clear the whole office. I told my Mrs ill be home for Sunday dinner as only have 4 walks that failed and around 100 parcels. I’ll be working through the night so will get night time allowance aswell.
Happydays
This time next year….
You don't get night time allowance if you work overtime on nights.
