Any "trust" on the doorstep has been earned by the postie on the frontline, as Thompson likes to call us. It hasn't been earned by some bloke sitting in his office, or hiding in his bathroom during covid. We are the people that people see and know.

The silence from the union continues to be deafening.

Talking out of his backside. DPD and APC are by far the best, quickest and most reliable around here. And dare I say it even the Hermes woman is pretty much spot on.
Must say I had a delivery via DPD last week. I was amazed what options I had regarding the delivery and they did what they said the would at the exact time requested.
All that doesn't equate to 'trust at the doorstep' though...
Does for me. They always turn up when they say they will, I can track everything, get text updates etc and never had anything go missing or turn up damaged.. I never have a clue when the OPG's around here are going to turn up, everyday is a different time and stuff has gone missing or been damaged.

IRM's quality of service has dropped dramatically during my 2 decades working there and it's getting worse. Trouble is you can't complain because they never answer the sodding phones.

It does for me, if I have a parcel with RM it gives me a random delivery window that begins over an hour before the postman even leaves the office. Afew months back I even got an email saying my parcel was due for delivery 2 days after it had been delivered.

Another fella chucked into a role (like most DOMS too) that know absolutely nothing about the role of a postman apart from what they’ve read in briefings and the like. Clear the office? :Very Happy Oh my word he’d have a heart attack if he ever visited our place at 3pm.

'Trust at the doorstep' is greater than simply being 'trusted to deliver'. We need to improve the latter...

Thats because they have employees that will do as they are told when they are told to do it, or they will get told where the door is, mean while over at RM 'im not doing that' 'im cutting off' 'his round is lighter than mine' 'im not goin over' ...

I think 'trust at the doorstep' has been earned primarily by having regular Posties on the same duty, day in day out, building relationships in the community. That's the advantage we have.

Well the letter doesn't start off great does it? "Clear your office, not just your frame". Is that a title, an order, a request or a wish? A wish that we were in "a better place right now". Like a magical field full of rainbows and light. Look Mum! There's a unicorn! Ahhh...Lovely!.

But meantime in the real world, with the runners in the starting blocks ready to explode out like a gang of Amazon drivers on crystal meth, and the finishing line in sight, I somehow don't think that 'doing a little extra' or 'helping out' is gonna fly. Now, where's me pipe....(PUFF)....Ahhh....That's better!

Terry WHERE ARE YOU?

This for me is the tipping point. If the union won't jump on this then it's done.

It is rumoured that if you say this 3 times he DOES appear, in a miasma of sweat and fear of losing his full time release.
If that doesn't work you could try 'rubbing the lamp'....whatever that means....
