Easy to sort, knock on the door when you get to one and hand them the post stating you cant get to the low letterbox, theyll soon put a box up for you.
How would you explain that one when they stop answering the door and your bringing their mail back?
Health & Safety, risk of back injury.
They're being banned on new builds for exactly that reason, so no-one can say that it's not a valid reason.

I have probably 5 low letterbox’s in a row, and maybe 40 in total, every new door is a low one makes me think they are doing it on purpose.

Just because they are being banned from new ones coming in, doesn’t make it a valid reason to stop delivering the mail to everyone who already had one. I agree they are impractical, but as it stands there’s nothing banning us from delivering to them. If it escalated it would be looked at quite simply - if you can’t do the job, look elsewhere.
Makes us look like an army of snowflakes. believe me, I have no intension to work any harder then I need to for this company, but there’s people who just take the piss. A postman who wont deliver post! Imagine if in Asda staff refused to get stuff from the bottom shelf’s, because of “Health & safety risk of back injury”.
That’s how ridiculous you sound!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I feel like banning low letterboxes for newbuilds is coming at it from the wrong angle. I keep seeing customers of extant properties installing new doors with low letterboxes (nice kick in the balls after 2020). We'll be waiting a century or more for the complete turnover of housing stock with this strategy. The campaign should be aimed at the manufacture and sale of this type of door.
The machine stops.

What a stupid post.

Ask yourself this- if every house on a duty has a low letterbox, would you be able/willing to bend/reach down that low for every single drop, everyday, week in and week out? Can you imagine the stress thats putting on the body?

More and more people are buying these trendy new doors with low letterboxes and it seems to me like its something thats not even considered in the design process, almost as if the letterbox has just been put there without any thought as to what its used for.

Is there any possibility that it's some EU law/standard that's causing there to be more low-level letter boxes? If it is, then depending on where the doors are made, you might be out of luck as if a manufacturer's biggest customer is the EU then they're obviously going to have all their doors they make, made to EU standards

I do not agree blinkboy, when you jump out the van to start your next loop in the pissing rain with your pouch rammed with packets precariously balanced on the top of the mail, praying someone will be home to shed some of the load, what is not convenient for a "snowflake" is having to kneel down on a wet path/drive with packets tumbling from said pouch onto floor, and finding a p739 wont go through the designated delivery orifice because the "draught/fire/noise/thermal/anti postman device keeps ejecting it, and popping it back out onto sad wet path/driveway. some twat didn't think about the postman when they came up with this brilliantly stylish feature that is a "must have" for "keeping up with the Joneses"

further to previous post, there are pros attached to low letterboxes, less chance of a toddler or pet taking a blow to the head by contact lens boxes, graze boxes, cruise brochures, saga bumph, covid test kits or flowers.

Yeah, remember this one:

The low letterboxes are not gonna stop them little terriers and angry chihuahuas from attacking the mail though! If anything it'll be easier for them! :evil/mad

I agree with your thoughts about low level letterboxes, but if your pouch is 'rammed' then surely you should be using an LWT
to avoid everything falling out?

Not the slightest possibility at all "that it's some EU law/standard....."
Given that European standards require a letterbox to be between 0.7m and 1.7m high.

Which explains why there are more low-level letterboxes in Britain since Brexit. :left: :chuckle

The latest idea for new builds is to place a "security flap" on the inside which prevents anything but the smallest or foldable letters being posted through the door .. it is impossible to get Covid test kits or magazines of substance through the door .. ridiculous to have to P739 a National Trust Magazine for example .. when I questioned the occupier about the obstruction it appears these measures have been "sold" to the tenants as security against .. and I quote .. "people pushing fireworks through your letterbox" .. I'm not sure I'd have necessarily seen that as a selling point which encouraged me to move into that particular neighbourhood personally
I wondered what those were, I thought I was going mad when I was struggling to post things through. It seems like our flap is a centimetre or so higher than the internal flap.

Again it comes back to us - if we stuff their radio times behind the plant pot or leave it sticking out the flap, nothing will get done. If we P739 it each time the residents will get fed up and will eventually do something about it.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

I think they're banned in Ireland but I do remember reading about a Dublin postie many years ago who was awarded compo for damage caused by low level letterboxes.
He was awarded £43,000 and that was back in the late 90's.
