Obsorbtion lapsing farce? : Why Royal Mail and North service delivery director Jane Simpson haven't got a clue about it

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It‘s not ok (To leave 1st class letters in the frame ) - we need to clear the frame and the office. Quality has been bumpy especially the last two months and we need to get back on track - deliver pre-Covid quality - delight our customers- meet the regulatory standards - at the right cost.
so, when workload ( weighted items) increase significantly we can expect extra resources to be but INTO delivery offices to meet the demand ?
Achim Dunnwald
Short answer- yes! That’s what we agreed, and it is the right thing to do, as long as you also hit the agreed productivity target

is that like a 21% call rate thats measured on mech, but really we are going to 90% of houses with a parcel/pkt or flat?
If it is then they need to rethink it.

Wow! How many frames a Postie should be delivering in the quieter times? In some offices maybe.
This forecast they're talking about...how long term is it? Are they expecting an even bigger drop in the mail going forward? Shortage of wood? I think I'd better start bulk buying toilet paper again...

Just a shame their forecasts are never remotely accurate and strangely they always seem to be lower rather than higher

What an absolutely incredible video... Anyone know who the presenter was ? As I watched I couldn't help asking " you've done your time on delivery then...day after day, month after month, year after year after year walking miles and climbing stairs in all weathers ? "
I don't mind a bit of hard graft...leaves me feeling clean at the end of a day. I can just about manage my own duty most days and can't see how on earth I could manage more frames
Give delivery a try before telling colleagues they're lazy ((which is how I read your presentation) ...it ain't easy out there in the real world !
PS : I think we need to take a good hard look at how we record traffic coming into delivery offices...

Honestly these sadistic twats at the top of company’s make me sick. Somebody give this lady a pda, a full delivery and a row of lapsing on a “quiet Tuesday” and we will see how confident she can say this bullshit to a camera after that.

Re: RMC tv : RMtv : How do we achieve a better balance between cost and quality? : Weighted items per work hr
So to understand "weighted items per work hour"-
I have a shitload of domino's leaflets that might weigh a few hundred grammes.
I then have a microwave oven to deliver that weighs 20kg.
It will take maybe half an hour to just prep (never mind faff about squidging one through a low level letterbox in the rain) a frame of these.
The microwave weighs 20 times more and takes lets say, conservatively, 20 minutes to deliver INCLUDING the various scans along the way.
You might get a bulk posting of something- some of it comes in a coded tray, the rest has to be handballed; the very same item then has the same weight but takes longer in man hours.
I get that you have to have some method of recording and quantifying these things, but this isn't the answer they think it is.
Sorry, it's all just smoke and mirrors.

What the actual f**k did I watch then! They need to show me how to clear my frame then we'll talk about clearing other frames! Unbelievable!
They really think it's our fault don't they!

Re: RMC tv : RMtv : How do we achieve a better balance between cost and quality? : Weighted items per work hr
I don't think it has anything to do with the actual weight of an item.
Different streams of mail attract a different weighting - whether they weigh 500g or 15 kg.
If it is a Special Delivery it has one weighting, if it is a Tracked another weighting etc etc.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Here's a thought.
Get rid of all these "experts" like the woman in the video and then employ at least 5 more front line posties for every one gone.

Tracked might be two different weightings, large and small. Don't know about in DOs but in MCs we have different streams on the PDAs for large and small. I don't think RM have yet got the reporting software updated yet to do a large and small breakdown yet.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 14:59I don't think it has anything to do with the actual weight of an item.

With the Covid kits those scanning them have to write down the number of them that they've scanned. Surely it wouldn't have been too hard for RM to have gotten a Covid kit Tracked mail stream added to the PDAs
