Revision 1 in 4

Post by lin1 »

Hi
What is a one in four?
I believe there could be a vote on what days we do. One of the options is a one in four. Does this mean we work 4 longer days and get the fifth off? So if we work Monday to Thursday longer days we get Friday-Sunday off??

In most cases it means one Saturday off in four.

The rota for 1 in 4 at my depot is...
Wk 1 Mon
Wk 2 Tues
Wk 3 Weds
Wk 4 Sat

While they get less Saturdays than those on 1 in 3, I think most of them liked getting 1 in 4 Weds off, which certainly before Covid was usually the busiest day by far... Not so much over the past ~18 months.

I always thought one in four meant a week off each month? You start earlier and sort. Go out later on a bigger round to fill Your hours for 3 weeks and have the 4th week off. :hmmmm

We've been told we are going 1 in 6, 1 in 4 is against H&R apparently! A real backwards step in my opinion as when I started we were finished by 1pm at the latest, new times will be 15.00-15.30. :thumbdown

Something to do with the hours needed to cover floating duties. We will have to challenge it and probably go to disagreement. New comers who have only known 1 in 4 or 4 day weeks are in for a shock!

Hereford are a 1 to 6, ie work 6 days a week for 5 weeks straight, 6th week off.
