I was still on the understanding that masks were mandatory in the office? When did that change! Great communication at our DO yet again! :thumbdown

It changed two weeks ago, and I asked manager to start later and he said no. I'm looking for a new job this company treats its staff like dirt.

If the changes are giving you anxiety issues then see your GP and if you feel your request was inappropriately handled phone HR and lodge a Grievance against your manager.

RM are treating their staff with contempt ,disregarding anxieties and fears.
They have a Duty of care to offer a safe working environment.
Basic Safe working practices are being disregarded.

Don't bother with HR,CWU or Health and Saftey they've all been in it together for years ,what everyone must realise is Royal Mail have always been about profits and covid has given them the opportunity to double them and their people will always be 2nd.

It's not about being scared, it's about collective responsibility for each other's wellbeing, and respect.
Remember the main benefits of wearing a face covering is to reduce the risk of transmission from the wearer to others.

Have you any evidence to back this claim up ,because there is more than enough evidence to the contrary.

This is just a gentle reminder that we don't want threads on here descending into a Covid or Mask debate for the previously stated reasons. Please do it on another site if you wish to debate the efficacy or lack of masks and vaccinations.

Experience has taught us that the more clues you give to managers about who you are in real life, the quicker they can use it against you. In that vein, we ask everyone to consider others and their own job security when engaging in such a debate.

Also, as we are a Royal Mail site, albeit an unofficial one, anything you post on here of a controversial nature that could be considered bringing Royal Mail into disrepute, or even Gross Misconduct, are both sackable offences.

The mask and PPE are provided but YOU did not choose to wear them!

From an outsiders viewpoint looking in - Surely the central RM Health and Safety team/dept carried out a provison and use of work equipment assessment under the PUWER regulations and also a PPE assessment to ensure that the selected mask was fit for purpose and had the ability to combat and control the virus threat?

Are you saying that managers just ordered any old masks and dished them out?

In a previous life within a safety critical industry, I am used to seeing PPE trials/Worker involvement and feeback and once a product agreed it then being passed to procurement to aquire. Admittedly during covid time was of the essence, but a party mask seems like a red flag at the outset.

There are two types of mask available at RM sites
1)Paper Disposable Surgical Type
2)Cloth reusable type ,which comes with a paper insert in the packaging stating, for party use only.

Both are better than not wearing one.
