Special Delivery Collections

We have been having Special Delivery collections lately on delivery and have to break off to bring the collections in at 2.30 pm.
Was going to finish the round but both of us {2 in a van} had to stop and brings loops back and drive back 6 miles to the office to bring back one Special Delivery parcel and bring mail back.

I dont see why, they wouldnt be collected from a post office until 5pm.

SD's posted (so I presume scanned into the system) before 3pm are guaranteed next day, so a customer would be pretty peeved if you collected it at say 10am, and if delayed by a day they couldn't claim for late delivery, as it was scanned after 3pm. Its idiotic to offer the collection service for SD's anyway, the twats that think up these ideas have no clue.

No doubt that clause was introducted in case the the item (s) arrive back at the DO after the last connection to the MC has left
What about the contents of any 0900 Piller Boxes , if they arrive back at the DO after the last connection has left , do ist Cl items become Day C Delivery instead of Day B
