New PDA Navigation
Tried out the Navigation on SA box collections this evening.
Results..........
Gets the route wrong sometimes.
Does not show the stops on the map.
Good news - the new PDA is a lot quicker to give you this poor information.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: New PDA Navigation
Till they start adding a shitload of additional software onto them They should have the same stuff but have it split into completely separate apps, maybe:
MC Tracked
MC Normal Parcels
MC Traffic Recording (not sure if this is already a separate app anyway)
DO Indoor
DO Outdoor

Re: New PDA Navigation
Maybe but if they aspire to be a parcel company the least they should have is mapping software that takes you to the door and puts the parcels in the correct order. They have apparently paid (a fortune no doubt) for the latest maps on these new pdas and it’s rubbish still.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑20 Aug 2021, 07:06Till they start adding a shitload of additional software onto them They should have the same stuff but have it split into completely separate apps, maybe:

Long term I think we'll see dynamic walk generation, especially if we eventually see a cut in the number of days a week that flats and letters get delivered onGrumpyoldmailman wrote: ↑20 Aug 2021, 09:28Maybe but if they aspire to be a parcel company the least they should have is mapping software that takes you to the door and puts the parcels in the correct order. Re: New PDA Navigation
I can never understand why there's no SA's routes pre-prepared, instead it seems anybody learning a new route as to sit with somebody who knows the route and take there own notes.
Given the new maps are still using Co-Pilot maps it's no surprise there's no real improvements, meanwhile, there's numerous apps you can download which take you directly to virtually any named house.

Re: New PDA Navigation
Just take a look at what the "competition" have. It was introduced in Germany and now they have it in the UK
https://newsroom.hermesworld.com/inter ... nning-873/
I gave the RO+D a go when it first came out and its really not 1st class. The navigation lets it very badly down. There are far better apps that do both route optimisation and mapping combined far better on the play store
Hermes also have state of the art scanning technology using Samsung phones. It scans dozens of packages in seconds as you just hover your phone over it

We are so far behind the curve when it comes to technology...
How can I apply for a job in the Royal Mail technology team?

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
