What is the rule regarding Lapsing, absorbtion or staff shortages where RM haven't replaced staff.
We have to do our round plus another half of a round which has no postman due to never being replaced
Can we take out the half of round of absorbtion and deliver and then come back and then have your 40 mins meal relief before taking out the mail that you can finish in the time left {maybe half} and leave what you cant do , or can they insist on taking all the mail out in one go and bring what you cant do back.
Any thoughts please

take your time and bring it back, if you keep taking it, they'll keep giving it, rushing around is not the way forward, remember your not getting paid any extra for running round and completing.

Seriously can’t be expected to complete another half of a walk as well as your own?
You will have a good idea on how long your own walk takes and be able to gauge how much spare time you have to take other walk.
If you take the other half walk then leave half of your walk in the frame .As long as tracked and Specials are done the manager should be happy.
I would Take half of your break before you leave or on route and finish on rest of meal relief.

In our office it's follow manager's direction which is:eastie wrote: ↑19 Aug 2021, 19:45What is the rule regarding Lapsing, absorbtion or staff shortages where RM haven't replaced staff.

Any thoughts please
1. Ensure all tracked and SD's done on both rounds.
2. Ensure the lapsed/absorbtion/extra (whatever you want to call it) is done one day and fail part of your own round if
you can't complete.
3. Next day you deliver the part of your round you didn't deliver the previous day and follow points 1 & 2 again
(failing a different part of your own round this second day).
4. Repeat ad nauseum.

Royal Mail can't hide behind the pandemic from 1 Sept.
Reps should now be pushing Royal Mail & CWU National Joint Statement Avoiding Delay (Commit to Deliver) and Reporting Standardsofcom wrote:we consider that the regulatory emergency period should be treated as coming to an end on 31 August 2021

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Nothing is going to change in our office between now and then. Up to 20% of walks failing per day - when they continue to fail what will be the reason given?POSTMAN wrote: ↑19 Aug 2021, 21:44Royal Mail can't hide behind the pandemic from 1 Sept.Reps should now be pushing Royal Mail & CWU National Joint Statement Avoiding Delay (Commit to Deliver) and Reporting Standardsofcom wrote:we consider that the regulatory emergency period should be treated as coming to an end on 31 August 2021

Only job I've ever done where the staff think it's their job rather than the managements to deal with the inadequate staffing levels the company wants to run on. Why on earth do people run around faster and faster, taking more and more mail and parcels, in a sort of weird macho competition while the DOM sits in his office drinking his tea, counting his extra bonus and pissing himself laughing as he cuts another post out of the budgetDDDJAM36 wrote: ↑20 Aug 2021, 15:12Vacant duties and staff shortages continue : I was asked this morning if i can do my round + 3 extra loops of lapsing everyday next week , ha ha ha , yeah , I'll just totally screw my legs up for the company shall i , , this company is a joke at the moment , it can't , or doesn't even want to , address it's piss poor staffing levels at the front line.

You forgot to add staff also coming in 15/30 mins early?ArthurPewty wrote: ↑21 Aug 2021, 17:49Only job I've ever done where the staff think it's their job rather than the managements to deal with the inadequate staffing levels the company wants to run on. I saw one of our newbies running from his van to a house and back, then when he got back to the DO early was complaining he'd been asked to do a loop of lapsing before he could go home
