It goes against any morals I possess to watch RMTV, but I’ve watched that video am I right in saying it was aimed @ management & not for posties to watch?
We need to talk. :d'oh!

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

"That's not being efficient by going back to the office then going back out again" No s*** sherlock. Maybe management need to look at the PDA actuals and actually do work themselves to figure out how much time each postie has. Problem is they can't be bothered or there to busy (cough) doing something else.

As many posties would say, you have a starting time, and a finishing time. Stick with it, and they cant moan about lapsing not getting taken out.

delivery director :left: , right i hope she reads some of these comments as our office is at least 7 vacancies , the summer lapsing plan was pre planned for months in advance regardless of traffic coming into the office and if you do it with no argument then they are happy to pay you overtime BUT if you say you cant do it or dont want the o/t then they go down the managers awkard handbook as in ,your inefficient , you leave mail apart from 1st class mail in your frame :no no , or you leave standard parcels inc 1st class on your own delivery :no no , but isnt that wilful delay ? or is it different for the powers above , anyway you come in the next day and they are lapsing again and tell you to rotate your parcels and so it goes on , so what a great service we give our customers :thumbup , and the worse thing is the office and area rep arent interested as it doesnt affect them as there not on delivery surprise surprise :arrrghhh so where or what do you do ?

I'm not against any business that wants to be more efficient and I think we all understand what lapsing and absorption is.

What used to be done for 6 weeks over summer, managers will now wherever possible will lapse and that really wouldn't be a problem as long as everything is being delivered on that day.

When everything isn't being delivered on that day I expect delivery managers like Jane Simpson to be directly held accountable as to why our quality of service is seriously suffering even though the pandemic is over.

Why does Royal Mail consistently want to grind down it's postie work force by piling more work on them everyday and operate on minimum staff, or, below minimum staff ? I thought i might stay in this job for 6 to 7 years , but the way things are i reckon I'll be leaving for something better next year after doing just 3 years.

Feel the same way, been here 12 years and about 3 years ago I thought I might stay until retirement(I’m only 34). Now I am also determined to find something better with near equivalent pay by the end of 2022. Fed up would be an understatement.

I would become a delivery manager. Problem is the only managers that are lapping it up in Royal Mail are the senior ones managing their own sections rather than being moved from pillar to post to different sections and different offices mainly doing postal work like most of the newer, younger deputy line managers. They are the ones that are more likely to end up quitting RM or going back to being posties

According to the courier today, Jane has been with Royal Mail for just over a year and previously worked in Network Rail and Severn Trent water, properly suitable.

Lapsing is supposed to be if you have got time at the end of your duty.
Lapsing now (which they call it now which it isnt) is doing it 1st to cover from not recruiting new staff that have left and then starting your round with 2 to 2.5 hours left.

Was that with sewage treatment side of Severn Trent Water. If it was then everything she says now makes sense.
