mail frame prepping .

Post by worktotime »

hi does anybody have a national agreement for this and how many items per min , as our dim has started to get onto peoples backs and telling them they arent efficient enough to do the job and telling them that it is 35 items per min ? and when we get a revision and you cant complete within your time there will be some serious conversations :evil/mad , and our area and office rep dont seem interested to challenge the dim over any of this :thumbdown , anyway as i far as i am aware it was 25 items per min in a clear single slotted frame , and they can do a 1 min test and that was it . thanks for any help.

I've got a crappy photo of a piece of A4 that was on a wall in an office I visited a long time ago
this is the only hard 'evidence' I've ever seen - various managers have spouted different figures
and then have not been able to provide any evidence...

Anyway this poster said:

Sequenced 40 p/min
Manual 25 p/min
Flats 16 p/min
Parcels 14 p/min

It was 25 items/minute and has never been updated.
That however was before we had sequenced mail.

As a resourcing standard we used to use 1250 items/hour - which was the minute test rate with 10% relaxation over the hour.
But this was a resourcing standard not a performance standard. A should take not a must take.

Go higher than the office and area rep!
There is the 1 min prep test which my grannies grannie could pass, so it's all a bit pointless and a tool to wind management up, so I suppose it's a goer.

AS a rule, what I always say, but what do I know, is, you prep what you prep as long as you're not taking the piss.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I think the % of sequenced will drop off a lot soon. More and more envelopes are the starch based paper and with them being not sealed completely at one end, they don't feed through the machine well

Tell him to shove it up his ass, after all the workload we've had in the last 18 months and the w****r wants to come over all Mr big bollocks??? If you fail the test tell him to provide extra training and for every body else who fails.
