When did the Royal Mail ever suggest we could door step due to COVID? I've never left a parcel on a door step, that's just asking for trouble, either use a safe place on bring it back, as nobody can be criticised/disaplined for doing the latter.postslippete wrote: ↑08 Aug 2021, 20:57Let it go.
Lucky for you the situation has been resolved. Don't agree with doorstepping but due to covid Royal Mail have suggested we leave parcels on the step and you said that you heard the customer and you had double lapsing to do which is why you didn't wait.
You might feel like you were treated like a dog by your manager but most of them don't possess very good communication skills because if they did they would have informed the customer to leave it with them and they will get in touch once they have spoken to the postie in person. All they have done is wound you up and made the situation worse.
In future don't take calls from the management team whilst on delivery or at the very least change your ringtones so you know who's getting in touch.

Thanks postslippete for the sound advice. I’ve let it go and the situation has been resolved. You’re right about most managers. Only a few have good communication skills.postslippete wrote: ↑08 Aug 2021, 20:57Let it go.

Unfortunately the best thing to do is work slower so you don't make mistakes. When management confront you about being unable to complete work, you see union rep. If it still isn't resolved because the rep is a jobsworth, go above their head. The real reality of the situation is managers are unqualified in RM, and if you can't deal with them looking for another job is best for your own sanity, because they aren't going anywhere, the people above them are useless too!
Stay positive bud, don't let them drag you down to their level.

Try and see it from the recipients point of view?
They didn't receive their parcel due to it being misdelivered. Wouldn't you if you were in that position want to know what had happened to it?
I doubt the PHG was enjoying themselves at your expense, more they were wanting to know what you had done with the package so they could explain to the recipient who was missing the parcel.

Royal Mail informed us to protect both us and our customers to leave an item that wouldn't fit through the letterbox to leave it on the step and stand back until the customer arrives to collect it.
The OP thought he heard the customer move to the door to collect it
Anyone who knows me on this forum will know that I personally advocate slipping the item rather than doorstepping. In fact, I've taken complaints for putting in a P739 instead of the safe place option on the PDA of leaving a very big parcel behind a very small plant pot
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
