Angry Customers Waited For Packages At DHL

MILWAUKEE -- Angry customers formed long lines outside the DHL shipping hub Monday morning as they tried to get their packages.

Police were called to the DHL at Edgerton and Sixth Street Monday morning after customers said they were denied their shipments.

Customers said they were told DHL would open at 8 p.m. Monday but when they got there, the doors were still closed.

he store opened a couple hours later, but that was no solace to those who came as far away as Sheboygan.

"Shipped to my house on Wednesday. I said I'd pick it up today (Monday). They said they'd be open at 8 a.m.. It's 10:30 a.m. and they're finally opening," said Paul Dubey, who was picking up a package.

"DHL employees put signs in their windows taunting customers. There was a sign that read 'If you want your packages, come to the side door with $200,'" said Jean Garden, who was picking up a package.

DHL issued a statement Monday.

It said last week's inclement weather impacted the processing of the shipments and it's doing everything possible to return to normal operations.

DHL said it would remain open until 8 p.m. Monday.
