Christmas eve off

Post by stephen500 »

I heard on Sky today that 47% of employers had given their staff Christmas eve off.
Its a shame that RM couldn't do the same!

We went on strike and nearly won (if it hadn`t have been for piss poor union officials & pec) so we have to be punished
I agree that it would be charitble to have xmas eve off, however can you imagine Postcomm letting us have the day off and what our media would say about it- all I heard on the radio yesterday was loads of stories about internet firms failing to get presents dispatched in time, who got the blame Royal Mail!!!
Even the Postcomm spokesman tried to tell the presenter that it was not necessarily RM's fault as everyone with a van now seems to be delivering packets, but the presenters still tried to tarnish our name - A postie from Herts phoned in and let her have it.
good for him.

Merry Xmas

Thank goodnes that all these 'internet firms' were behind or we'd been even more 'overwhelmed' with packets , as it was we couldn't cope due to the penny pinching antics of r.m and the dictat forced upon local managers to get it done as cheeply as posible. Never mind the posters who posted in good faith that r.m would deliver (pardon the pun) were let down yet again

i think mass days off on the 24th would have been a pr nightmare for both posties and the company.

enough people with the knives out for posties/rm

We've no chance of ever having xmas eve off if it falls on a working day.
Although i do feel that as a show of gratitude we should only take dated/stamped and all packets only.
I mean,we had tons of BT bills ffs!!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

A few years ago all late staff in my MC would have been devoluted to a 0800-1600 attendance and the MC Manager would have given a Xmas concession release at 1300. Also a limited number of staff would have been allowed to take Christmas Eve as AL.
Now late start staff are devoluted to 1000-1800 and only finish after the final despatch at 1730.
Ebeneezer Scrooge is alive and well, and managing a MC near you.
