In my office all part-timers have a duty and many full-timers (like me) have lost their duties and have to be reserves, all reserves are now full-timers.

Remember the "good old days" when you started at the bottom and worked you're way up....not now.

All done to keep full-time jobs.....allegedly.

Why are walks separated into full time and part time? Shouldn't the only difference be just the indoor stuff, with the actual walk part being open to all?

That’s how it is at yours.

We had maps of our revision put up last week, the jobs are bloody massive. We are still to vote and it will be a no vote, can’t remember what happens then.

I work in a MC. I find it crazy that there's part time and full time walks when apart from knowing where DPs are (probably lots of hard to find ones on rurals), there can't be much difference between walks

Then who Preps the Walk covered by the Part Time Staff, some of who are only on 20 Hours
You put that work onto a full time duty thats already been picked , conflict
Better to sort it out before the duties go up for picking

Why not have all the full time duties doing the indoor work including preping walks? Take the total number of walks and divide that number by the number of FT staff, which would give you how many walks each would prep

You're quite right Space, this is the theory of how it should work in our office, however what happens is that the
full time duties are prepped to completion of all letters and the majority of packets and then there is a thought of 'Oh better
start prepping that PT walk' reluctantly and then 5 mins later the PT'er walks in and the walk is not prepped
to the level it should be. Result, the FT walk goes outoor 'earlier', the PT walk goes outdoor 'later' where it should
be that all walks go out at approximately the same time and return at approximately the same time ie the
outdoor time element is the same. Management see nothing, hear nothing, say nothing.

Same at ours. Full timers, with 15-20yrs service (me included) as reserve, loads of PT’s with less than 5yrs in,with their own walks:regular days off etc.
“Shorts,in this weather?!”

“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”

“What’s she been ordering now?”

Nope that’s what the union conned us into. In reality they are to squeeze hours out of the office and blood out of the workforce. Same as ever.
