Which would be great. If you were a manager. But you ain’t. And I ain’t. So,you do what you can do,then go home! :cuppa

Personally, I think the CWU should be way more pro-active here instead of holding on to their draconian out-dated "just work your hours" policy.

How about a policy of only expecting posties to do 3 loops instead of 6 loops for 2 days mail??

That might prevent some awkward conversations taking place between managers and posties over how much mail they can take out and instead focus on actually getting managers to do the job they are paid to do instead of spending all morning drafting work plans for tomorrow when the mail hasn't gone out for the current day.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

The lapsing thing is a huge one at mo struggling to do it on time , rushing around too scared to say anything . Then its a performance issue and upstairs . Its all well saying just work to time but some staff find it hard standing up for themselves . The computer says yes

I get that & I genuinely feel sorry for lads & lasses that are pressurised into completing unmanageable workloads on a daily basis. But I must say, there are a few unpleasant characters in my office & we definitely aren’t ‘as one’ in the way we work or think…but if any manager tried to force any of us to take anything as ridiculous as double Mail with lapsing on top then they’d be laughed into the next town. It simply would not happen
“Shorts,in this weather?!”

“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”

“What’s she been ordering now?”

People leaving, don't get replaced. Full timer leaves, part timer doesn't get immediately made up. I've been a reserve since the start of Covid and haven't known my rest day more than 1-2 weeks in advance for 2 years now. Had about 4 long weekends within that time. Yeah, that's what RM has always been about. But it does no good for your mental health or morale, especially when there's empty duties that don't get filled until months later that you could move onto with a set rest day.

Can only hope things will improve once Covid can't be used as an excuse for a poor working environment.
This sounds like my office too.

What's actually happening is the good staff are leaving, they've had enough.

I was willing to get past covid-19 to see if things would improve, but it's gotten worse. The management in this company is about as incompetent as you could get.

The absolute best thing this company could do, would be to get rid of most of the incompetent managers, and invest that money where it's needed, the frontline staff who actually do the work.

It sounds like I’m not the only one that feels this way after many years of service 🤷🏻‍♂️
