Letter to Branches
No. 785/14
Ref: 250 & 590
Date: 3rd December 2014
To: Branches with POSTAL Members
Dear Colleague
CCTV Code of Practice
Following recent conduct cases involving 2 of our members and a request made from the floor at the recent National Romec Briefing we have decided to re issue the existing CCTV Code of Practice. This has remained unchanged since 2008 when it was originally issued to Branches by Martin Collins, CWU Assistant Secretary – Indoor.
However, as a consequence of the conduct cases referred to above we have sought further assurances from both Romec and Royal Mail regarding access to CCTV images and the use of such information in future, and can confirm that in addition to the bullet points under the heading ‘General’ as contained in the Code of Practice both parties have agreed the following statements.
Before using CCTV images in a conduct case manager’s will need to gain prior written authority from the appropriate Head of Industrial Relations who will certify whether or not the use of the images is consistent with the code of practice. (Royal Mail)
Prior to using CCTV images in a conduct case in this way, managers will need to gain prior written authority from Romec's Head of Employee Relations who will certify that in his view the use of the images is consistent with the Code of Practice.(Romec)
Both statements which are welcomed should ensure that the requirement for such information has gone through a due process before any operational manager can gain access.
Any enquiries to Bob Gibson’s Office, quoting reference 250 & 590
Email address: hnutley@cwu.org or mstewart@cwu.org
Yours sincerely
Bob Gibson
Assistant Secretary

What a knob, what is wrong with these dicks.
Never ever in my life have I ever done anything like that.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
