Re: Forced off a duty
If I remember rightly the Absorption agreement does not allow for OPG's to be removed from duty to accommodate absorption. You can only use vacant duties.Where the delivery is in relation to the delivery office does not come into it.

Re: Forced off a duty
The thing that RM will say is, that the walks are not owned by the delivery person, RM owns them. The delivery person only gets paid by RM to deliver to that walk. So if you've signed for a particular duty it is still not your duty, if you see what I mean.

Might as well not have agreements then.

Re: Forced off a duty
Totally but like i said there needs to be a discussion and a mutually agreed solution like giving the duty holder a decent period of notice and the choice of any available duty as per the way forward (displacement).POSTMAN wrote: ↑25 Jul 2021, 21:23Makes sense it's a walk nearer the office though, wasn't this mooted back in the day for summer staffing etc.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑25 Jul 2021, 15:12You've kind of got that mixed up, it doesn't matter how long people have been here they shouldn't just be bumped off without any discussion or attempt at a mutual resolution.southoftheriver wrote: ↑24 Jul 2021, 18:20To be honest this is basically what’s wrong with the company and mentality of staff, just because he’s been there 33 years doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be moved. Tough , just get on with it
It's not tough, just get on with it, it's piss poor management and not supporting your colleagues when they get screwed over no matter how long they've been in the job is what's wrong with the mentality of the staff.
The rep should beaskingdemanding for extra summer leave slots though.
What shouldn't happen is Bob turning up on Monday and being told he's been bumped onto the worst duty in the office.

Re: Forced off a duty
correct.
when you sign for a walk it means that you'll be doing it from then on subject to the requirements of the office.
it's ******* hilarious that people get chips on their shoulder about it.

Obviously agree, but all this in a 'Courier' office would have been sorted during revisions.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑26 Jul 2021, 18:31Totally but like i said there needs to be a discussion and a mutually agreed solution like giving the duty holder a decent period of notice and the choice of any available duty as per the way forward (displacement).POSTMAN wrote: ↑25 Jul 2021, 21:23Makes sense it's a walk nearer the office though, wasn't this mooted back in the day for summer staffing etc.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑25 Jul 2021, 15:12You've kind of got that mixed up, it doesn't matter how long people have been here they shouldn't just be bumped off without any discussion or attempt at a mutual resolution.southoftheriver wrote: ↑24 Jul 2021, 18:20To be honest this is basically what’s wrong with the company and mentality of staff, just because he’s been there 33 years doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be moved. From memory a walk or walks that would be a training walk for new starters. So who ever signs for it knows they will be bumped off when new starters start.
And a lapsing agreement/summer staffing where certain walks would be identified as such. But obv when sickness happens then that one will do.
In a non Courier office...
2 days with Bob and you're on your own and,
Will lapse this and that walk cause I fecking said so cause I'm the boss like it or lump it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
