New Royal Mail Managers Academy

Post by POSTMAN »

SIMON THOMPSON:

We're also investing in our managers careers, and we will open a new Royal Mail Academy later this year. Having great managers with the skills and the time to lead their teams is very important.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

That's great.
One problem which is very obvious when you talk to the DOM is that they do not have any real experience of being a postman.
I suggest two weeks on delivery before they start at the Academy.
With all the usual training! :wave
This would give them some necessary grounding.

The criticism of postie managers was always that some postie would shadow a manager of some sort for a month or so in between making the tea for the other managers, then he would be on the acting list, and that would be his training complete.
"Monkey see, monkey do" and the same old "because we've always done it that way" way of thinking prevailed.
They weren't termed "posties without bikes" years back for no reason.

Maybe it should be similar to the Billy Connolly quote about politicians in that the desire to be a manager should bar you for life from ever becoming one.

Perhaps we should just draw lots...
