Begging people to do overtime all this week. Walks failing, stifling heat, people refusing to cancel their holiday unlike this time last year, obnoxious managers & the return of van share.
Last year we weren't allowed to cancel any holidays

The news must not have made it up here yet. The resources manager was round begging people to work their day off next week and to do 2nd jobs on docket.

Nothing about any of this mentioned in my office. We've failed plenty of walks this week, but only because we're severely short staffed.

What about agency staff?
Is it 3 weeks of no shifts for them too?

I have two shifts for the upcoming week and several colleagues also got shifts too. I am at a mail centre. Not heard or seen anything from my RM friends about overtime ban yet.

Total overtime ban for 3 weeks... smack in the middle of a monthly qualifying period for back pay.
Hmm...didn't see that one coming.
Neither did the union when they agreed it.
F***wits.
Or even worse they knew and rammed it through anyway. This union is finished, it’s now just a big payday for the con men near the top. Dave Terry and their crew are eyeing retirement so they will keep milking the 100k a year then they will disappear into the sunset on fat pensions without a second though for us mugs.

Our office had a meeting this morning, apparently there's going to be a complete overtime ban from Monday , they've been told to fail walks and to bring back what you can't do in your time no matter if you're full or part time. Has any other offices had this?
send an email to the ivory towers and our new ceo and let them know whats going on , as it could be a way of f***ing everybody over with any average holiday pay over the 6 month period , and this is the all singing and dancing agreement that the cwu got for its members and they didnt see staff being s**t on , and the massive yes vote for it :thumbup , well done .

We get these threads back and forward usually accompanied by tales of doom and gloom and the business going bust.

They're funny but not to be taken seriously.

The excuse given was that royal mail are making a record loss and that they only had enough money to be able to pay us for 3 or 4 weeks!
I take it you didn't see the interim results announced the other day ?

You beat me to it WG. Why do people insist on stressing themselves out over rumours? :hmmmm

So one DOM decides to use a very blunt tool to solve his problems and suddenly the whole business is going bankrupt!

We normally hear the "Over Time Ban" rumour after the Christmas Rush when we're approaching the end of the Financial Year and RM start watching the pennies. It normally last for a week or two and then it's business as usual. :whistle

I tend to work on the principle of being aware of what's "Rumoured" to be coming down the line..... but don't start worrying about it until they're starting to discuss it happening in my Unit! It's not worth the stress .... it's like those Bloody Pinging idiot-phones that just set your nerves on edge.... Switch off the Strees! :cuppa

There's also a few posts on the Facebook RM chat also saying OT is being reduced, it seems that definitely the case at some DO's. Perhaps if the DO's are fully staffed then HO have decided there's no need for OT at those sites?

Unless you've financially overstretched yourself and need the O/T to survive, why worry. In on time, home on time no problem, cut off and bring it back.
