Complete overtime ban
Our office had a meeting this morning, apparently there's going to be a complete overtime ban from Monday , they've been told to fail walks and to bring back what you can't do in your time no matter if you're full or part time. Has any other offices had this?

Re: Complete overtime ban
Im in a large MC, everyone was moaning on thursday that there is not a single person in on sat O/T this week. Apparently there was a notice up by the overtime rota but i didnt get to see it.

Re: Complete overtime ban
If that includes the use of casuals as well then there's going to be massive, massive failures. Walk sequencing might well have to be sacrificed to make sure that packets, Tracked and SDs clear. Might even be just batch level only, with just merged batches walk sorted (merged batches are kinda like "mop-up" batches with the odd walks from different DOs where there's not the room on the batches covering a particular DO. Think it's something like 10,00dps max per batch. Worst comes to the worst we'll just send all the mech as manual, as we won't have the staff to get everything done. At the extreme it could come down to us not processing any manual letters or flats at all

Like how long can they continue to fail walks and not have things covered? The COVID restrictions are now gone, shared vans are back yet daily our office fails between 5-10 walks. Is this now just going to be a permanent thing going forward? Think back 18 month and if you accidentally left a letter in the frame it was wilful delay. Now its just do the tracked and screw everything else.

The excuse given was that royal mail are making a record loss and that they only had enough money to be able to pay us for 3 or 4 weeks!

If they fail walks they wont even have that with the fine for not covering the uso. Not to mention all the CSP's that are open late on a Thursday which is being covered by overtime, and the IP thats also mostly being done on overtime.

They want to scrap Tracked altogether, piece in the Daily Mail yesterday.toonshola wrote: ↑24 Jul 2021, 15:31Like how long can they continue to fail walks and not have things covered? Also want to scrap saturday deliveries and signed for parcels.
It is outdated, expensive to deliver and customers are happy for parcels to be left in a safe place.
They cant stop saturday deliveries without agreement in parliament and a uso change, but they could knock Tracked on the head overnight.
Don't be surprised if there is no more scanning Tracked (or anything) from monday.
No sat deliveries means no friday nightshift to pay and a 4 night nightshift, that is a huge saving.

Re: Complete overtime ban
Don't believe what you read in the Daily Fail - depending on where each journalist hack has sourced their
information from on the web, this info has become more and more garbled.
'Tracked' is what RM want to challenge the competition, it's all about the 'customer experience',
so I don't think scrapping tracked is under consideration at all (except for possibly Signed Tracked - which
would just become 'normal' Tracked).
Don't RM through OFCOM want the viability of any item that has previously required a signatures looking at,
because it's these that take the time/re-delivery/customer collection from CSP/PO faffing about?
OFCOM consultation document:
Question 5.4: Do you consider Ofcom’s approach to regulating USO services, including access
requirements, Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm, Signed For and Meter mail will remain
appropriate going forward? If not, please explain what changes you think should be made,
with supporting evidence.

Re: Complete overtime ban
Can't see RM doing away with Tracked, RM would loose massive amounts of traffic to rival couriers. If anything there's going to be a big increase in the amount of stuff that needs scanning. There was a recent thread where it's going to be mandatory for those positing PPI to have a 2D barcode on them. My gut feeling is that that within 5 years only foreign mail and stamped mail won't have a barcode, all other packets will probably have a barcode

What's going to happen when all the pt staff leave, not many people can pay the bills on a 25 hour contract.

Re: Complete overtime ban
Total overtime ban for 3 weeks... smack in the middle of a monthly qualifying period for back pay.
Hmm...didn't see that one coming.
Neither did the union when they agreed it.
F***wits.

Re: Complete overtime ban
Begging people to do overtime all this week. Walks failing, stifling heat, people refusing to cancel their holiday unlike this time last year, obnoxious managers & the return of van share.
