suppose my d/o differs to most then, i'd be 2 to 3 feet away in a ventilated van with zero physical contact, whilst indoors i'm continuously barged into, elbows hitting my chin, calves kicked whilst doing ips
Very different to mine. Here I can quite comfortably social distance from everyone, I can second guess what route someone might take, I can move away if they are standing near me. In a van I’m like a sardine in a tin.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

You need to educate yourself on how the virus is transmitted and it isn't by having your calves kicked:

COVID-19 is spread in three main ways:

Breathing in air when close to an infected person who is exhaling small droplets and particles that contain the virus.
Having these small droplets and particles that contain virus land on the eyes, nose, or mouth, especially through splashes and sprays like a cough or sneeze.
Touching eyes, nose, or mouth with hands that have the virus on them.

Van sharing puts you at greater risk particularly if you are a reserve.

If that's the case then your office has failed to implement covid secure working measures and should not be operating.

If van share is as inefficient as some say then I’d have thought the union would have jumped on this chance to bring it to a permanent end.
Or did it maybe just seem efficient when you ignore the costs involved in hire vans and extra fuel etc

Shared a van for the first time today, delivered a round I'd done twice with a guy who'd never done it before. I have never seen so many parcels. 10 hour day, we delivered everything but probably in not the most efficient way.

Why are we suddenly giving a toss whether van sharing is efficient or not?

I thought the mantra was you have a start time and a finish time etc..
Start on time, take your break blah de blah de blah.

Now we're apparently fixated with the inbuilt ineficiencies of sharing a van?

You couldn't make this s**t up. :cuppa

Dude.

It may be efficient, it may not be efficient I wouldn't know as I have no idea how to throw the two frames out in an efficient way. Just got it done. As a new employee what would you suggest I do? Bring it back saying I couldn't be arsed?

forgive my analogy re the calf kicking, but a mask doesn't simply eliminate you from risk, merely reduces it, your workplace is obviously better set up to reduce risk of infection,
but at ours it's been business as usual really from day 1 of covid, apart from the odd stripes of hazard tape stuck about, you actually wouldn't hardly notice any difference in working practices from pre-covid days
yes a line manager would come and shift 2 prepping on the same frame now and again, but would then walk by the next frame with 2 on it if they were struggling!
so in reality i have 20 or so people bumping into me indoors on a daily basis whilst if van sharing, just the 1 person,
hope that explains my reasoning to defend van sharing

Chances are that van sharing will probably be called off next month considering another lockdown throughout the United Kingdom is imminent.

A third wave of the coronavirus is underway, just as that genius Boris Johnson and his cabinet of clowns lifted the last of the restrictions.

It`s inevitable. Kids will go back to school, rates will be sky-high and we`ll be back to square one (again).

I think Boris will resign before ordering another lockdown.
He wasn't particularly bothered when it was the over 80s dying. He will be less interested when it is mainly youngsters who aren't getting hospitalized.
The main argument for lockdown was protecting the NHS. He didn't buy the NHS being overwhelmed argument then, he will believe it even less now.

It says a lot about the English that they voted for a man so clearly unfit for public office.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Chances are the NHS is going to get overwhelmed one way or the other. With face masks and social distancing we've not been exposed to the other bugs and viruses that we normally would, so our immunity to them is going to be weaker. There's probably a fair chance that we'll be hit massively hard by the flu this winter
