A singing postman's anti-Christmas songs are proving a surprise hit on the iTunes music download website.

Dean Farnell, 45, of Weston-super-Mare, wrote Why Don't Christmas Go Away? (I'm bored with the Wizard of Oz) to express his dismay at seeing a Christmas tree in a pub in September.

Since recording the song in the studio the Royal Mail employee has signed up to Apple's music site where the track can be downloaded all over the world.

The song tells the tale of a man who is fed-up with Christmas. He has also put a second track on the site called 12 Days of Christmas (Divorce Version).

Both are selling strongly with their popularity rating bars almost up to full.

He was delighted to win a New Media Art Award from an American site which also provided a link to download his tunes. Mr Farnell is now looking for a record contract.

He said: "I originally wrote the first song as a bit of fun to see what it would sound like on a CD, but all the staff started to sing along to it.

"Some song titles I have in mind for future release are, We Call her Christmas Carol, about a woman who is Christmas mad and likes to decorate everything she can. You have to keep on the move or you'll be decorated.

"Another is My Snowman wants my Coat and Scarf, about a snowman who comes alive and wants his makers to put some clothes on him to spare his dignity."

His version of the 12 Days of Christmas is about a woman who wants to divorce her husband because he is overweight and disappointing in bed.

there's a good article on him on the Bbc Somerset site & he's made the on-line Sunday People .

It is on I-tunes @ £0.79 per track , .Very droll & enterprising

Better news coverage for the service than the usual Hysterical Victorian Ranting dribble you get on Comment on this article , some of the ranting rubbish is usually from Royal Mail Senior/Area managers masquarading as Joe Public !, then RM wonder why there's no good will or give & take .
politics -showbiz for the ugly , powermad & inadequate
