Re: Wearing of masks in office ?
The offence is created by Section 1 of the Act, which provides as follows:
“Section1. The offence
An organisation to which this section applies is guilty of an offence if the way in which its activities are managed or organised—
causes a person's death, and
amounts to a gross breach of a relevant duty of care owed by the organisation to the deceased.
An organisation is guilty of an offence under this section only if the way in which its activities are managed or organised by its senior management is a substantial element in the breach referred to in subsection (1).
An organisation that is guilty of corporate manslaughter or corporate homicide is liable on conviction on indictment to a fine.”
Making you work in an environment that can be proved to be unsafe is against the law. Lets say a postie died of covid and it was shown to be caught at the DO because many other posties caught it as well. Then if it can be proven RM allowed coronavirus to spread on their premises with no regard for the health and safety of their employees by not requiring masks, social distancing, good hygiene even though these are known to protect emplyees working indoors, then I would say there is a case to answer for RM.

As I said, good luck with beating RM in court over that.

Re: Wearing of masks in office ?
I'll be keeping mine on. In a couple of weeks time there will never have been a more important time since this all began to keep yourself and others protected. By the end of July there will be more people infected with covid in the UK than at any other time in the pandemic. Everyone has got so used to wearing one, why would you want to not when infection rates are higher than any other time? You'd be pretty stupid IMO.

Re: Wearing of masks in office ?
‘Ministers are poised to tell companies next week that employees can drop face masks, social distancing and other workplace measures put in place to minimise the spread of coronavirus.
It comes as Boris Johnson prepares to remove most of the remaining Covid-19 restrictions in England on July 19 and ditch the government’s “work from home” guidance for business.
Fourteen documents issued by the government since the start of the coronavirus pandemic about making workplaces Covid secure in England are due to be heavily condensed and published as revised guidance for companies next week, according to people briefed on the plans.’

Re: Wearing of masks in office ?
Ministers can tell companies what they want, but in LAW companies have to protect the health and safety of their workforce. So until this looney corrupt government changes the law on these issues, RM still have to make sure that their employees are safe, and that means taking steps to minimise covid transmission in their DO.

Based on what you say , anyone who couldn't wear a mask , should not be allowed in the office.

Re: Wearing of masks in office ?
The wearing of masks at work is going to become a farce if the Government say they are now no longer compulsory, as the people who continue to wear them will get little protection from the standard RM masks, but the people who don't wear them will now benefit from being protected by those who do wear them.
It seems England's <30's are being used by the Government in some kind of experiment to see if herd immunity will work, if it does there could be hundreds more deaths in the <30'a

Re: Wearing of masks in office ?
Mask wearing by OPGs is getting increasingly lax in my office, absolutely no hope of enforcement when line managers are not wearing them correctly when in close proximity to colleagues.

That already is the case unless you have a medical exception, a real one not one printed of the internet or bought from ebay. However, some managers are not taking much notice of this, well they should and you should complain to RM if your manager is not taking it serious.tractorboy2 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2021, 09:40Based on what you say , anyone who couldn't wear a mask , should not be allowed in the office.
