Re: Wearing of masks in office ?
I wouldn’t call a wearing masks pointless if they reduce transmission ,protecting yourself and others.rubberbond wrote: ↑03 Jul 2021, 19:19iHateD2Ds wrote: ↑29 Jun 2021, 05:51I mean people will only start wearing a mask when Covid hits the office infecting large amounts.
And how will a mask protect you , when it’s acknowledged that benefits are at best marginal, plus it took the company about 8 months into this nonsense to decide we should wear the pointless rags.
It’s probably fair to say cheap surgical paper mask may not be effective as they made out to be because of the gap.
On the other hand studies have found FFP3 masks cuts COVID-19 infections by up to 100 per cent.

The writer is a microbiologist by training , so I expect he knows what he’s talking about.
Or this letter in the Daily Telegraph from a surgeon in March 2021:
I find all this mask advice incredibly amusing. Yes masks can be effective. If one adheres to the recommended procedure for biohazards. Use a disposable mask capable of filtering out the hazardous material & change several times a day. When changing masks, hands & face should be washed with a biocide before donning fresh mask & the used mask safely disposed of. A mask should never be reused.
However, in practice, people seem to using the same mask all day or all week. They're constantly fiddling with them, taking them on & off. So any virus they may have intercepted is transferred from the outside to the inside, onto the hands & spread all over the face. Then carefully saved to be reapplied next day.
It's a hoot.
Since people would find it practically impossible to adhere to the correct procedures, what's the point in wearing them?

That's one person's opinion, it's a long way from generally "acknowledged" and don't be a dick about grammar on here, it's just a postal forum not a n English literature exam.rubberbond wrote: ↑04 Jul 2021, 12:36Acknowledged by whom?Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑04 Jul 2021, 09:01Aknowledged by who?when it’s acknowledged that benefits are at best marginal

Once again this fails to acknowledge that the primary reason for mask wearing is to reduce transmission from the mask wearer, not to protect the mask wearer directly.rubberbond wrote: ↑04 Jul 2021, 12:36Acknowledged by whom?Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑04 Jul 2021, 09:01Aknowledged by who?when it’s acknowledged that benefits are at best marginal

Whilst you’re entitled to your opinion of what I wrote in reply to you , I did not insult you , therefore i do not appreciate your insults , after all it’s just a postal forum.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑04 Jul 2021, 18:46That's one person's opinion, it's a long way from generally "acknowledged" and don't be a dick about grammar on here, it's just a postal forum not a n English literature exam.rubberbond wrote: ↑04 Jul 2021, 12:36Acknowledged by whom?Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑04 Jul 2021, 09:01Aknowledged by who?when it’s acknowledged that benefits are at best marginal

Health & Safety Executive have an online form that can be submitted anonymously, and also a ‘phone number. An unannounced visit from them seems to stir things up !

Re: Wearing of masks in office ?
Have Royal Mail announced yet if it will still be mandatory to wear them indoors after the 19th when the legal obligation to wear them in other circumstances will be scrapped? Enforcement has been poor to non existent in my office anyway.

Re: Wearing of masks in office ?
i'll admit i hardly ever wear one
but they do try to enforce it in my DO since it became mandatory, most pop them over their chins,
however social distancing has hardly ever been enforced since the virus hit the UK as it slows the job down,
i found it amusing seeing line managers telling many on ips to split up further yet two on a frame when bundling mail up was virus free

Re: Wearing of masks in office ?
If they don't then expect a lot of people going on the sick in the next 2 months + There could also be a case for negligence if you were to catch covid and it gave you long term health issues or death, because unlike the crooked government committing democide on its citizens, companies still have a duty to protect their employees, there is no excuse that they don't know how to protect them anymore since we all know masks, hygiene and social distancing works.Zicomurphy wrote: ↑08 Jul 2021, 13:25Have Royal Mail announced yet if it will still be mandatory to wear them indoors after the 19th when the legal obligation to wear them in other circumstances will be scrapped? Re: Wearing of masks in office ?
If the government mandates masks are no longer a requirement then good luck with suing RM for negligence.
