Internet shopping causes post chaos

ROYAL Mail is struggling to deliver the extra three million items people in the county wanted delivered for Christmas after an online shopping bonanza.

The amount of Christmas post in the Northamptonshire area with an NN postcode this year has risen to 11.9 million items compared with 8.7 million in 2006 and 2005.

One of the reasons given is the popularity of online shopping, with the figure rising from 100 million items last year to 120 million this year from online orders.

Hundreds of parcels have been returned to collection offices because they are either too big to be delivered or they need a signature, forcing customers to queue for their parcels.

In a letter to people visiting Kettering’s Wadcroft collection office, delivery office manager Simon Kirkland has asked people to be patient.

He said: “During peak times delays may occur in you receiving your items from this caller facility.

“This is due to extremely high volumes and an inadequate building.

“I apologise for any delay and ask you to be patient with our staff who are doing their best under difficult circumstances.â€

The reason they are struggling in my office is because they are not willing to spend the money needed to provide even the most basic service. It has feck all to do with an online shopping bonanza, and more to do with cut backs. Last year and in previous years they threw money at Christmas, this year we haven't even got the vans to deliver parcels. :evil/mad :evil/mad After 350 years of practice, RM should be ashamed at the piss poor service they now provide. :evil/mad :cry :cry :cry

We all knew packets that were going to heavy this year, how comes the powers that be were caught out yet again :arrrghhh :arrrghhh
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

in out office the management had the foresight to cut the amount of drivers by two around three months ago, come xmas he adds one extra driver a week before xmas (brilliant ). We didnt manage to deliver all our packets last year with more drivers so this year we have no chance. Also managment wont let us posties throw anything out to a driver now unless it has been vetted by them.
The office is a shithole and the management cant cope its a total disgrace
