Remember when the miniers knew that they were going to be pit closures they were able to take free courses in order to prepare themselves when applying for new jobs. Take advantage of the learning centres if you have one at your DO or MC.

:wave

But how many of those 40.000 jobs will go from the mdec? Also the MDEC has alot of University Students who are part time.

I am in full agreement to a Learning Centre at the MDEC as long as it offers what everyone wants? :Applause Do we have any guarantees of this? :silenced

A simple yes or no

Post by saladcream »

I know for a FACT, that 3 of the reps of the FLF are willing to pull the LC and throw our wieght behind other proposals, like helping the social committe or putting in more day light bulbs. The increase in the LC will not be pushed through. It will be put out to vote. I know because I write the damned updates! I wrote the last one with the faith that people wanted it and it would cost the stripped down amount. The increase in cost (from: Property Holdings) and the lack of support has made me think that I can help put these funds in better places. If you have had no help from your reps, then ask me here! I am a rep!

If your team votes, thats all that counts. We take a majority vote. I am sorry to say that lates swing most votes, but that is because they have more people. Its the fairest way to run things. Contact me with any issues or problems.

Therein lies a problem, it does not matter how many flf reps want to pull the LC, the LC has already been voted on; so next years budget should be used in accordance with the " majority vote " and get on with providing the LC. Possibly one of the reasons behind flf wanting to pull out is the fact that some of flf reps sit on both committees (flf, sc ) which surely will result in a conflict of interests. :hmmmm :hmmmm

I do not know if you have noticed that all around the mdec that daylight bulbs have been installed, as for helping the social committee, they have an average income of about 2500 per annum from the pool tables, they spend their money on xmas parties, football kits etc, these things have been arranged without being accountable to anybody.

Maybe it is about time that the social committee follows all other committees and have to put themselves up for election biannually and vote on how their money is spent like the flf.Incidentally, they spend money on football kits while the pool tables go to ruin and run to the flf to recover the tables which keeps getting voted out, the reason for this is simple the majority of staff probably think that the social committee (joke) should use their income from the tables to keep them up to a acceptable standard for everyday use. Or maybe in the meantime allow the tables to be used for free whilst they are in the current state.(rant over) :mad :mad

Information overload!

Post by saladcream »

Ok, lets put this in a more simple way.

1. The FLF reps agree to the LC. But not with additional charges.

2. Any additional charge or change requires a vote from the floor.

3. I meen places like break out areas etc. Have some consistancy. Oh god, the C word of the MDEC.

4. Do you feel you do not have enough information on FLF?

If so I would be glad to meet with you at work some time and take you through our stand point.

The rep responsible for the "new" opposition for this is not a member of any other comittee or group, so no confliction there.

I personally would like to see the social committee carry on with funding the football team and doing anything to keep the MDEC feeling a bit more of a fun place to work. I know it rarely feels that way, but the rec room helps.....at times.....when it has a TV. As for the pool tables, I want to recover them using FLF funds. Honestly. It wouldnt be much. But it would be with the understanding that they must be cared for. More people need to report people who damage things.

Please feel free to rant! Gives me something to do at the end of my shift!

I do not personally have a problem with the social committee funding the mdec footie team or assisting with the xmas party, what I do have a problem with is that this money is spent without any redress or input from the mdec as a whole. ie: we should have a vote.

Only last year it was proposed that the pool tables be recovered from flf funds, this was voted out and I imagine that this would happen again if proposed, as for conflicts of interest the current night flf rep does sit on the social club comm.

as for flf info I think the last update was in oct so yes you could probably say that not enough info is cascaded down to keyers, in fact the night flf rep has not been near my team since he has been elected.

If you wish to discuss my comments further pm me and we can meet up.

Now now this is a discussion forum where you can discuss whatever you want. Whether is the important things like a plan to destabilise the Government and Old Street, or whether Kermit looks better in a pink or blue tutu. Within reason anyone can discuss anything.

Ps Belial if it was a joke my apologies I just grabbed the chance to explain things.

Hi mailsort6...and Polly....I am from Stockport MDEC...but go back many many years.....RM are not just thinking of ditching 40000 jobs...the process had begun quite some time ago...a favourite saying of theirs 'natural wastage'.....but when you consider the amount of people who have either fallen foul of the 'sick attendance procedure'....'conduct procedure'....and then their are those who have just had enough and left....then there are people who would be eligible for EVR..and providing the price was right...would probably take it....

With the MDEC's...it is all about the 'read rates' on the AI system....the more it reads...the less we have to do...as an example of this...we on the night shift at Stockport...went from around 150 or more..about 3yrs ago...to now just 38 actual night shift staff...with around 20 twilight shifts...people don't get replaced when they go...not sure how many night shift at Plymouth or Stoke...could someone let me know...

Merry Xmas to All :chuckle
