It's not that it's an easier role, it's that it's a different role. One that doesn't involve 10 miles a day up and down steps in the pissing rain.

There isn't any role in a mailcentre that's as physically demanding on your body as delivery, claiming that there is would be ridiculous. There may be jobs just as tiring but that's not the same thing.

It's quite possible to be walking over 10 miles in a shift in a MC. People have used pedometers and found that they've sometimes walked over 12 miles

Well thank god i didnt claim there was. but can honestly say i would walk over 10 miles a day every day on my duty.

Some use mobile phones which will more than likely use GPS. Generally all jobs on the floor, you're walking a fair bit of the time (getting work/taking work to the warehouse/bays. Moving work from primary to secondary sort setups, boxing up flats and letters, moving work between work areas, getting equipment from where it's stored. Anyone who works on an IMP, iLSM or CSS will be walking up and down the machine all the time)

sorry to post and ask the question i seemed to have sparked a bit of upset and annoyance that was never my intension.....ive posted mail for 16 years...pretty good record not too much sick...
i WASNT looking for an easy days work......just a days work....

There was a request from the near by centre for staff wanting to transfer.......ive come to a time were it would suit my life....
nights was my choice....they had 2 shifts on offer.....

i finish my duty regulary before my time so in fact in a mail centre i would be working all my hours.....silly move some would say.....

Because the sick absences, if any, that are associated with the condition would in these circumstances be discounted. What they mean by attendance record is turning up on time, and any sick absences not due to the condition etc.
