Re: On a different walk next week
It’s not as easy as just ‘following the frame’ - I can think of two duties at my office that are set out completely wrong. If you followed as frame you’d be walking around in circles all day. There are also business on there that have long since departed & new firms that don’t have a place on the frame at all! I have asked the walk holders to re-write their walks a dozen times but they can’t be arsed. One of the walks is a cracker, and once you know how to do it,as I do ,it’s fine. The other I avoid like the plague. Just looking at the frame gives me a headache. DOM
will have a problem one day when the duty holder retires & nobody wants to sign for it!

“Shorts,in this weather?!”
“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”
“What’s she been ordering now?”

With the stringent testing RM now use they are getting a different level of employee, it’s hardly rocket science to follow a set route of streets & corresponding numbers

Re: On a different walk next week
On the duty i'm on now following the frame won't stop you getting lost because it jumps in and out of different but similar looking streets all over the place. It is the most efficient way to walk it because most of it is pedestrian access only to the front door but if you don't know it then it's a maze. Lots of the houses don't have numbers either so it's not as simple as following the letters.

When you're on a walk for the first time, it's never as simple as follow the frame, set route, streets and numbers. There's always someone who wants to put a postie down because they don't know the walk.

Re: On a different walk next week
One thing I find very useful to do when I know I’m going to be on a new walk is to take photos of all the sections of the frame, plot the route on google maps and Plotaroute and make some detailed notes. Plotaroute will show you footpaths that google may not. It’s a little time-consuming but helps you learn the frame so prepping is a little easier plus if it’s an HCT walk, you can easily see where you can lock the trolley and do a loop and where you need to push and deliver.

Like some have said all you really need to know is where to park. And even then it doesn't matter if you dont, just follow the post.
