It’s been reported to me today that Royal Mail are taking annual leave off shielding people not only pre booked leave but leave accrued, leave built up over years sometimes to help the company out by delaying their leave when requested by management.
I have spoken to the CWU HQ and our advice is clear take out a grievance against the company and contact your branch secretary to start the process for potential Employment Tribunal as this is potentially discrimination directly or by association against disabled people who have followed the government advice.

Thanks Woody!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Just thought...
How about f***ing HQ when they have their weekly love in with the business present the evidence of those who are getting screwed over.
Isn't that what our subs are for?

Just another thought..
I would have thought that taking a group of vulnerable people and treating them like s**t was kind of like the definition of...bullying.
You know that thing the CEO is all over the media promising to stamp out with the big trust blah, blah, culture change etc....

Re: Shielding, annual leave and Employment Tribunals
The fact that most of the CEV who have shielded have now used up their sick pay allowance is shocking. If they are Ill and need time off or relapse with the existing condition that has already made them vulnerable, they will have little or no pay. They were told to stay at home for a reason. It’s Poor as piss

What makes it worse is that it didn’t have to be like this.
They had an easy get out at little cost to them, FURLOUGH.
Yet they chose not to and instead forced this on to the cev.
Are they deliberately using this to get rid of people with possibly the worst sick record?

I think the new 5 hour delivery span will get rid off most people over 30.yourlatepostie! wrote: ↑25 Apr 2021, 23:26Are they deliberately using this to get rid of people with possibly the worst sick record?

I really don't know why Royal Mail didn't furlough. Mind you the government has given Royal Mail plenty of work since. Look at all them bleedin covid19 kits. We can even afford to pay a few guys a bit extra to deliver a handful of them on a Sunday.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Shielding, annual leave and Employment Tribunals
Originally they said...

They had the chance to do it but left it way too late.
From memory they did do it to some yes?
However Martin Lewis said...The 80% scheme is only for furloughed workers. This would therefore not apply to Royal Mail staff as there is currently work available and we are not currently in a position where we are considering redundancies due to the Covid-19 situation.
From my furlough thread back in the day..."The guidance is not in place yet but the strong signals I am getting from the top is employers have the discretion to offer (furlough).
"That means if someone is self isolating for the next three months an employer has the discretion to put them on furlough. The same is true for someone whose job is available but they can't work because they are at home to look after children.
"Bosses, you can put them on furlough. You are not going to be prosecuted for doing this.

Yes. Some got furlough very late on for around 2 or 3 months.
Then the :
>>The 80% scheme is only for furloughed workers. This would therefore not apply to Royal Mail staff as there is currently work available and we are not currently in a position where we are considering redundancies due to the Covid-19 situation<<
: Became the stance.
