For all the mockery, some already do this in our office. Obviously don't hang the bags on frames, but put four or five on a york and stack parcels into them. It actually makes sense as oppose to putting them on a frame only to take them off again to put them into bags. I personally put trays on the fitting, as I don't bag things anyway. I don't mark packets as having p739's or blue cards in my bundles does my head in and takes too long, so I bag as I start a loop to check what parcels I have.

I think you've just to remain Flexible in the way you prep your duty. RM love Tech would love us all to be robots running on a strict routine .... but it just doesn't work! As you say it's sometimes simplier to have a couple of pouches stood under your frame and you can fire packets into them as, and when. i.e This Road's got a lot of small packets today ... I can normally manage it with a Bundle under my arm today, I'll use a pouch.... not rocket science. :cuppa

TBF you can only be as flexible as the equipment allows:

I don't think there's a walk in our office that has enough bags and sleeves for the mail, let alone filling them up with parcels first. We often resort to putting sorted mail in trays into our vans, and refill the few bags we have when we've emptied them (some walks literally have 1 bag). Should we get shelves instead of hooks? (not that there's room for either)

WTF  That's pretty shocking, we're literally tripping over the bloody things. Perhaps your DOM should be trying to get some through the system? If there's DOs in your area that are flush perhaps they could send you some. :hmmmm

It's a basic piece of RM kit you'd think they'd be able to supply enough. :cuppa

A couple of years ago a previous DOM told us that the standard pouches weren't being issued anymore and tried to fob us off with lightweight 'insert' type pouches similar to the collection pouches. Now if you tell a manager you need some more pouches they check who has already gone out on delivery and give you any pouches they've left behind. The current DOM refuses to order new LWTs.

I wouldv'e thought so too, but the shortage predates me.

Most walks are a couple of bags short, and those that are done by later (LAT and collection) people, or lapsed, tend to be the ones with 1 or 2 bags (they usually keep them in their vans so they don't lose the only bag they have).
