wot - no christmas post?

Rumours persist in the manchester area that santa's little helpers at the manchester mail centre are hoarding all the mail and packets for delivery on christmas eve. This cunning plan is designed to bring sighs of relief to all the customers who thought that their mail wasn't coming and gasps of agonised breath from all the posties who will be struggling to deliver it at the last minute.

I suspect the real truth is that manchester mail centre managers have f****d up big time with little or no planning and that all the cost cutting has now come back to bite everyone who depends on an efficient distribution service on both cheeks of their arses.

I know that local DOM's were today asked to put walks on overtime and send any experienced staff to the MC to help out - I hope the DOM's all replied "you laid off all your experienced staff - if you think you are getting ours - you can f**k off"

im in the manchester area and all i can say is recently its been very light compared to what it should be, so on xmas eve we will be gettin shafted by the mail centres, well to be trufull i fink everyone will be finishing on time! they need to sort the ways out!

Hi.....I work at Watford mail center,all the delivery office's i take mail to have said how light the deliveries are.I went into work Tuesday morning and one dock was full of unsegged mail for our catchment area WD-AL-EN postcodes,managers running about clueless and casuals sorting one letter per minute.The outward and local despatches were both done at the same time,this made it absolute chaos on the loading dock,proberly a H&S issue as well,casuals were told to wheel yorks out....no hi viz coats and trainers.I went in today and thought it must be better today.

I was wrong it was worse,one dock had last nights outward packets as well as stuff for the DO's,the othe dock had yorks for the DO's and the storage tent in the yard was full as well.When i got back from my first 2 runs panick must of set in with the powers to be,because as well as the local segs inside,dock staff were segging locals as well on the large dock.

I left at lunch time and all the WD-AL-EN mail had been moved and stored in the delivery section.I think today is the last day of posting for 1st class mail,so they will be going all out tonight to clear the outward,as from tomorrow they'll concerntrate on the locals,so friday and saturday will be heavy for delivery staff.

It appears to me that because us posties were punished by RM flooding the office with casuals and stopping o/t because of IA we seem used to it,many lads enjoy being home early and have given o/t the elbow,i know i have and its great.As from Thurs i believe the Polish workforce will start to dwindle as they start to make their way home.Not as many of the normal christmas casuls this year either.

Both vans we got for Xmas pressure are knackered - everyone's refused to drive them. Packets are piling up, I've never seen so many as there are this year. The collections have failed because there aren't any vans back to do them.
Utter f*cking chaos! Royal Fail really didn't think things through when they introduced the later starts.

Yes good postmen/postwomen have lived their live's around royalmail and with 2 month's notice royalmail changed the start time's of all of us most will not now work overtime for they have to pick the kid's up from school!. FOR IF ADAM& ALAN HAVE SOME SPARE TIME MAYBE THEY COULD GIVE YOU ALL A DIG OUT JUST A COUPLE OF PACKET'S WOULD BE OF HELP. :lfo & :cfo .

I've never seen such a backlog of packets, in part probably due to an increase, but also people not prepared to help out.

Yes and the fact that overtime is not what it once was ie 60p per hour first ten you would have to be desperate or the next ten at is less then 8.56 per hour you must be mad and as for sunday time 1.24 your ahvin a laugh :cfo & :lfo get of your fat backside's and get some work done!.

Plus taxable and not pensionable so in real terms worth less than the normal rate

We got hammered today, went out 1.5 - 2 hours late, can't get all my packets on the van, shed load of reggies and recordeds. Had DOM try and tell me it was all posted last night, and I should stay out and deliver it as it wasn't fair on the rest of the office.

I think this has been the worst organised Christmas for 5 years or more, I hope tehy get it sorted by Monday, because I know most of the office intend to finish on time.

I'm totally cheesed off at the moment, my lad has broken up from school, and what am I expected to do, work all the hours there is in th e day.

(I feel better now after that little rant)
