Remember when there was a big hoohah about 5hr deliveries? We’re now talking about 6hr spans and no one bats an eye????

Yep I remember on the front of our unions newspaper a picture of a postman sweating and drinking from a water bottle saying we shouldn’t be walking around for more than I think it was 3 hours.What a joke.

Something that's creeped into my DO over recent years is the increase in indoor work that's being done by "The Early Birds".

They start a couple of hours earlier than the rest. As well as the usual messing about and drinking Tea they have to prep quite a few of the walks, as well as their own. If there's a problem with a particular Postie having too much on his Duty the "Early birds" will be tasked with helping him "Get out the Door" so he doesn't have to cut off.

This might include Portering all the IPS letters & packets to his frame....Throwing off his Mech.... Throwing off IPS mail & Prepping Households.

The point is that the "Early Birds" are being paid OT before they even start the day, and if you took it to a worse case scenario a FT Postie could turn up for work and find his walk prepped & tied up ..... would he then be expected to Deliver a 7 hour Duty?

When the Rep mentioned it to the DOM he said, "Don't be ridiculous, nobody would be expected to do a 7 hour Delivery" but we've already got a few that are 5 1/2 hours already .

as i have previously mentioned we have one doing over 7hr deliv span as hes happy as hes working from home takes everything out that they give him no control over how much .and to top it off his line manager insists he does extra bit due to working from home

Yes it's all wrong and the CWU will do nothing about it. It's been the done thing in my office for at least 5 years.

If people are regularly working OT everyday this should be factored in to the revision... it isn't quite the opposite is happening.

Give it 12 months and we'll be back to the 2019 RICO BACK era.

We regularly do 6+ hrs walks in our office

I also thought under The 4 Pillars Agreement from April 2022 were all on 35 hrs a week !

6 hours 15 mins mine took me today and they wanted lapsing doing as well which caused the usual argument when I said I was leaving it.

Been doing 6+ hr deliveries for years in my office and since this pandemic started it's 7+ hr for those that complete. For those who work to time rows are left in on a daily basis without a blink from management and not even required to let them know any more.
37hr week? bring it on.
