Social distancing isn't viable long term, a good few types of business/industry won't be viable. The most obvious example being public transport, I believe that full length single deckers are currently limited to a maximum of 10 passengers. Just looked up the spec of one type, normal capacity is 42-77 (I'm guessing it depends partly on what seating arrangement the operator goes for). That's a massive drop in capacity, so to offer the same levels of service, they effectively need at least 4 times the number of buses

There is already talk of a third booster vaccine for the autumn so I’d imagine this could go on for quite a while. I also think that once a vaccine passport is rolled out, it will be with us to stay.

and just how many people do you think would be prepared to pay bus/train/taxi/ferry/tram fares that are triple what they are now? :cuppa

I can't see Covid ever going away. Long term I think it'll be like flu where the medics/scientists each year choose the worst strains and develop a vaccine for them strains, vaccinating the old and the vulnerable

Ok there are two ways out of this pandemic, get vaccinated or social distancing, you gotta pick one or the other , there's no third option of saying I'm not doing either of them and going back to normal, if you choose not to get vaccinated then you have accept the consequences which is you stay in isolation, I took the vaccine and I too have accepted consequences of a very small heath risk, I don't want unvaccinated people keeping this disease alive till it mutates into something more serious or evades the vaccine, I understand there's a group of people who can't get the jab yet and it's unfortunate but they will be able to get it eventually, I know the notion of passports is unpalatable but it's a temporary measure in a time of crisis
Do you really think they will spend billions on a passport system and only keep it for a year or two? once its here it will stay, dont get your booster one year you become one of the great unwashed and not allowed in anyway. Nothing wrong with social distancing lets keep that, besides who wants to sit next to a stranger at an event, id sooner be 1.5m away and pay double to go out so the venue dont suffer.

Please remember the vaccine doesnt stop you from catching or spreading covid, it merely takes the sting out of it for now so it can still mutate into something more serious even if everyone had the vaccine.
They spent a tonn of money on a substandard track and trace system that never worked, and its not a whole new passport system, your GP can verify if you've had the jab or not, it could be an app on a phone to get into certain venues not all, so billions behave mate, and are you saying the vaccine hasn't had affect, this country was in the top five for deaths and infections now we're in the mid twenties and deaths thankfully continued to fall and yes it will be temporary do you think a tory government wants more legislation all they've ever done abrogate responsibility for anything also johnson would love to announce that covid is over, so to suggest that they wanna draw this out to every year event is wrong, and yes I want social distancing to end when it's safe, I got no problem with sitting next to people

Please remember the vaccine doesnt stop you from catching or spreading covid,
Please remember this isn't a fact simply guesswork because there is a lack of available data.

What is a fact is that covid19 is mostly transmitted symptomatically through mucus and saliva transfer and obviously if you're not coughing and sneezing because you've been vaccinated it will greatly reduce the chance of transmission, simply put vaccinated people would most likely produce far fewer virus particles than those who have a symptomatic infection.

Poliovirus vaccines and rotavirus vaccines only stop people from developing severe symptoms but both have seen huge reductions in transmission rates to the point where we've almost eradicated poliovirus completely. Of course what we are relying on is everyone doing their bit and as few free riders as possible.

They call it a passport to make it sound dark and official.

I have a Tesco passport, if I don't show it at the till I don't get my points. They didn't spend billions and billions coming up with it either but it comes with it's own app, knows my name, age, address and what I like for breakfast.

Even though we see things differently, I can agree on both these statements.

Had my second Pfizer jab, 10 weeks after first. No side effects apart from some sensitivity at point of injection for 3 days.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

To make it clear as we have started getting a few Anti-Vax and Covid Denial posts on here, this is a forum for discussing postal matters, not a Covid Conspiracy Forum.

After what has happened on a few forums I visit I won't run the risk of that taking over the reason why RoyalMailChat exists (to help people). So to make it abundantly clear.

No Anti-Vax posts.
No Covid Denial Posts.

Any that fall under these subjects, from either side of the debates, will be deleted, and the poster warned if they use derogatory terms

There are plenty of forums around on both subjects where you can post and discuss to your heart's content, this is not a Free Speech issue, as I am not stopping you posting elsewhere. It's just not an appropriate subject for this board.
All post by me in Green are Admin Posts.May use chatgp to generate posts

Got an offer to receive the jab.Throw it in the bin...job done.No headache, or sore arm.Was able to do my duty the next day- no problem at all.
You didn't even have the decency to use the code on the letter to refuse the vaccine and allow someone else that slot.

What a fully formed adult you are.
