MRM.COM/RMTV : Seven days a week : We're starting a Sunday parcel delivery service : With trust comes change
https://www.myroyalmail.com/news/2021/0 ... -days-week
We’re responding to growing customer demand by introducing a Sunday parcel delivery service for major retailers, writes Paul Smith.
The move sees Royal Mail tap into the seven-days-a-week parcels delivery service for the first time.
In the next month, a number of retail brands will begin trialling our new Sunday delivery service across the UK. We’re currently in discussions with additional retailers about rolling out the service to their customers too.
Chief operating officer, Achim Dünnwald, said: ‘It’s something that our customers have been asking for. It provides more opportunities in a growing market and it provides opportunity to work on different days. It is voluntary so people can fit it into their schedules, if they wish.’
Battersea postman Seymour Rose adds: ‘Everybody’s doing it. If we don’t catch up, we’re going to be left behind.’
Look out for a feature in the next RMtv programme, with more from Achim and colleagues at Battersea Delivery Office.(We have it early below...)

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

"With trust comes change" is a non sequitor (if that's the phrase I'm reaching for) worthy of an Orwellian dystopia.
Change is easier to effect with trust, but the two things are not dependent. It's like saying 'if you don't agree with Sunday deliveries, you're not worthy of our trust', and more insidiously implies that if you don't want to do a Sunday delivery you may not be worthy of trust'

As a leave reserve I don't know my day off week to week and so can't plan my life very well. The only day I know that I have off is a Sunday.
Does this mean from now on that I will get 2 random days off a week that I only find out which ones the week before?
If that is the case then I think I will leave and so will others I suspect?

Before thinking about Sundays Royal Mail need to get the Monday to Saturday service sorted out. There's loads of duties failing everyday because of lack of staff. The service will be even worse if we get Sundays as well to consider.

Exactly this . Get someone to finish all the walks that are consistently bringing stuff back every Saturday. There just aren't enough hrs in a Saturday duty any more. How long is it gonna be before the regulator fines start kicking in?
(I presume they know what's going on?)

What if no one 'volunteers' to work Sunday?

Just on Saturday. I bring stuff back everyday and it has been that way for 2 years.rambo1 wrote: ↑13 Mar 2021, 09:47Exactly this . Realistically RM might well have to reverse the SWW at some pointrambo1 wrote: ↑13 Mar 2021, 09:47Exactly this . I doubt they'd have agreed to introduce it if they thought there was the remotest possibility of having to reverse that decision. While the union have hailed it as a huge success, I suspect people working fewer hours suits RM's long term plan.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑13 Mar 2021, 18:20Realistically RM might well have to reverse the SWW at some point

How will the 7 days per week work in offices such as mine where staff work 6 days per week, Monday - Saturday and have 1 week off every 5 weeks?
