The issue with parcels v letters is it's not as simple as one offsets the other. Letters are mostly machine sorted; only a small % of parcels are making them less profitable. Productivity when it comes to sorting parcels currently is too low, basically. I've no doubt during a negotation it's in their interest to exaggerate losses, but there's a reason old Rico got the push and it wasn't because not many of us posties were big fans. He was held responsible for the fact we were still over relient on revenue from letters, which collapsed by a third virtually overnight.

The % of machine sorted letters is going to drop over time as the machines don't like the starch based paper now used in some envelopes. They cause constant jams

Royal Mail is and always has been profitable.

When private shareholders take thheir share, it becomes loss making.

That's why we have back breaking workloads. So we can make rich shareholders more money.

You really don't understand how private companies work.

How much of the profit is still coming from GLS?
How much is coming from Covid contracts?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
