He was obviously someone who comes in early and was trying to finish 2 hours before he should do!
He wasn't obviously anything.
We should probably try to remember that.
He's not on here to defend himself.

No need . He’s had trial by Facebook and been found guilty.Nothing more to be said. Glad I’m not Him.Amazing how many want Him lynched without knowing full story.

It's alarming how each article words the event differently. We don't really know the full story so it's easy to judge based on emotion. The postie could be a narcissist as mentioned, or he could have been unable to comprehend the severity of the situation and made poor judgement due to being depressed from the treatment of his managers and maybe issues at home also. We know managers often show signs of narcissist like personalities which hinder our ability to do our job to the upmost best.

I'm not sure either way as the video doesn't show an awful lot.

I'm not even sure this event could warrant losing his job. There might be a law that says you can't ignore someone in need or distress for example.

At least the lady is okay which is the important thing.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

On the face of it not too good, but we should consider a few things:

1 Posties have been doing there normal job throughout COVID and now in the severe weather, while others have been at home.
2 I'm sure that the postie in question was knackered given the events of recent times.
3 What are people expecting him to do? We have weight limits and certainly paramedics see lifting a person as at least a two man job.
4 COVID distancing applies here.
5 To mind if he had a responsibilty at all it was to call an ambulance and ask her if he could go into her house to get a coat or blanket for her, nothing more. No mention of the fact that an ambulance took 2 and a half hours to arrive.
How much worse can it get? A LOT F****** WORSE !!!

Not saying he isn't.
I'm saying we shouldn't add bits of our own to the story.

Looking at the bigger picture the woman is fine, no thanks to him obviously but she's fine.

Social media is a toxic place, if this guy has a family his wife and kids won't be fine, they'll be getting s**t from all directions and they've certainly done nothing wrong even if you think he has.

This kind of thing can have repercussions that go way beyond the importance of the original event, like ripples in a pond.

I'm certainly not going to join in with the pile on mentality of the Internet.

Wot a tosser. let's hope nothing like this happens to his family. If there's an explanation surley he would have spoken out and tried to defend his actions.

People please be careful. This has gone international now and it doesn't put Royal Mail in a good light. However, without the postie concerned explaining why they did what they did and what happened in their own words we have to be careful that it does not turn into an internet Witch Hunt, sometimes those do not end well.

Also as its drawing such close attention, and there are bosses lurking on here, please don't open yourself to being conducted because of what you post.

But was he really knackered? Maybe he was, but I wouldn't be surprised he used that as an excuse for the fact that he was too nervous to get involved. Many people are like that, especially children who see an accident involving an adult. They're too scared to offer help and prefer to walk away.

The postie is not a child and he should've manned up and offered assistance. Even if he was sincerely knackered, that's not an excuse to walk away from a situation like this.

You answered Point 3 with Point 4:

And he could've called his RM manager to explain what was happening. Also, ask the lady if he can call someone she knows to come over until the ambulance arrives. Perhaps a relative, friend or neighbor on her street.

There's the Good Samaritan Law - but it doesn't apply to the United Kingdom. Parts of Canada, the United States and Europe have the Good Samaritan Law.

Here's an example of Germany's version of the Good Samaritan Law:

Unterlassene Hilfeleistung is the failure to provide assistance to someone in need of such. If a person fails to provide assistance, then they have committed a crime under Section 323(c) of the German Criminal Code.
