Off topic coments removed, including THAT comment, back on topic and ignore it all now, ta.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

..
I am on a part time duty (singleton)That sounds like a normal day before covid march 2020 though.
From march 2020 we had 4 to 5 yorks of parcela per shared duty . Now its like you say 1 to 2 yorks. 3 on a very busy day and the mail is really low. D2ds are practically extinct in a lot of areas.

I know we are missing many packages bound from Asia, due to them being held on covid restrictions, but the parcels are near to normal levels again and not at "xmas level " everyday. Dont come on here saying you cant complete your duty still....etc. The point is the parcels and letters have notably dropped in last month. Its a great thing that we got that CWU deal voted in coz nothing else would ever be ob table if the levels continue to drop as they have since negotiations.
I personally could never do all parcels and 1 duty a month ago but now im finishing b4 time if i did it at normal speed. In fact id say parcels have dropped off more than they were b4 the pandemic
Ive been in job 31 years in 7 different locations across Liverpool n lancs and worked with Work load assessments and predictions with managers ,as well as framework and full revisions , so i do know my stuff when it comes to how much mail each office gets and how long a duty should take..
If your taking 3 hours from 7 to get out then thats really slow prep and load. And then you would have 7 hours . No chance mate. Your talking to a postie of 31 years and a revision specialist ,wrap champion and route planner expert. No 6 hour walks in the country unless your doing both
I wont tell your boss the truth tho.![]()

Im seen too much over the years as a rep too. 99 per cent of time its the staff that are in the wrong but we always seem to win cases. Maybe the PDA actuals and loggin in and out of duties performed will be a game changer for Royal Mail. There is no hiding from the data of your own performance for the dayP13 wrote: ↑10 Feb 2021, 21:56You appear to know a lot about every office in the countrydolphlundgren73 wrote: ↑10 Feb 2021, 21:44There has never been a 10 hour delivery anywhere.rambo1 wrote: ↑10 Feb 2021, 19:20Are you taking the pxxs? Yeah we're still getting hammered. I think if you still have Amazon, Parcelforce, etc, it makes a huge different. Losing amazon alone would take maybe 50%+ of our larger parcels away, not to mention about 80% of our specials.
It's still insanely busy, considering the time of year, and the previous 10 months.

The amount of foreign specials has dropped off a hell of a lot (probably down to Brexit issues). You can tell from what is lined up outside of the SD lockerMurdoch wrote: ↑11 Feb 2021, 11:53Yeah we're still getting hammered. This is the experience in my office:
March - December: Insane levels of parcels. TRIPLE or more compared to pre-covid levels. Looking back I have no idea how we did it
January: Slight drop off from Xmas, still easily DOUBLE pre-covid levels of parcels
Feb: Another drop-off, probably now under DOUBLE, but still significantly higher than pre-covid. Just seems like it's gone back to 'normal' after the horrendous year we've had!

Yeah, thats what I thought! Most rural deliveries at our office are 8am start , after half our break we are heading out from the office about 10.30 at the earliest on Wednesday and Thursday. Most take 5hr minimum on a 'light' Saturday for example ,plus another 20 mins for rest of break. On Wednesday and Thursday, this is more like 7 hrs to 71/2 hrs including break, then there's an extra 10 min break to add on the end. There are also van shares that start an hr earlier at 7am and don't get back till 4-5pm. Maybe it's just our office that's crappy planned , but I do know it's the busiest Feb I've known in over 20 yrs, ATM it easily tops pre covid Christmas pressure.P13 wrote: ↑10 Feb 2021, 21:56You appear to know a lot about every office in the countrydolphlundgren73 wrote: ↑10 Feb 2021, 21:44There has never been a 10 hour delivery anywhere.rambo1 wrote: ↑10 Feb 2021, 19:20Are you taking the pxxs? Yes the mail and parcels are definitely not like they were between March and December. I think a lot of bad management and some lazy staff members make it look worse than it is. The figures as a whole now are no different to any other January.ArthurPewty wrote: ↑11 Feb 2021, 20:10This is the experience in my office:

Nope its just the staff stretching out a duty for overtime. PDA actuals and scanned log in and log outs should eliminate most of the time wasted. WPCs are there to help staff see why they are so slow at prepping but hardly ever get used by DOMs. Once any frame is sorted then it would take 30 mins at max to bag and load. Any delivery route would take 5 hours at max and thats not running around.rambo1 wrote: ↑11 Feb 2021, 20:47Yeah, thats what I thought! Re: Parcels have declined since we got a yes vote to new deal
I disagree. Until the lockdown ends there will not be a reduction in parcel volumes & even then I think people will not go back to the high street. This is the new normal, Covid will not just disappear and we will not defeat it until we have a true vaccine that stops people being infected with it. At the moment we have drugs/vaccines that reduce the likelihood of you dying from Covid.
The high streets were going to be abandoned in their current format anyway but Covid has just increased the process of inevitable change to online shopping . I personally am completing delivery every day but am going over duty time virtually every day except occasionally on Mondays. Mail volumes for Mondays and Tuesdays have been switched over officially by RM although they have not admitted they have done so or given a reason why. The assumption is that it is to keep the MC staff happy/quiet until they have their super hubs up & running and can start to ditch staff.
An effective minority have given a yes vote to the union and we just have to wait for the **** to start falling. The future is far from rosy for the employees of RM.

Re: Parcels have declined since we got a yes vote to new deal
Once the super hubs are up and running and most packets get sorted by machine, then for any given walk RM will know on the day near enough what that walk has got due for it that day. It's not too far of a stretch for that to turn into lapsing getting dished out automatically and maybe even with powerful enough hardware and software dynamic walks with apart from DDAs on one will have a fixed walkCelgar wrote: ↑11 Feb 2021, 23:14The assumption is that it is to keep the MC staff happy/quiet until they have their super hubs up & running and can start to ditch staff.
