Anyone got new DOM

Post by OverloadedUK »

Hi, at our office we have got a new DOM to show us the errors of our ways. He's gonna "sort us out". You can only try to help but this one is the same as all the others. 7 Doms in 8 years, not bad. Each one worse than the last. He doesnt know his elbow from his arsehole. Heres a clue mate. " YOU dont talk out of your elbow". Anyhoo he reckons hes gonna reintroduce the hours that have been raped and pillaged out of our office. We are over 240 hours a week short. Only half the office sorts because the other half are all part-time. OK not half but i reckon a good 1/4. If hes true to his word he aint gonna be the most popular person to the area manager, who Incidentally didnt know we were that many bodies short. If he didnt know, what the F**K has HE been doing. Any way thats my rant over anyone else fancy a go? :cry

The delivery manger was recently (september) made up to DOM and a acting manager from another office promoted to delivery manager. The DOM at the next office along has ben appointed as a cluster manager due to the SOM taking on a extra postcode area.

We used to have a Area manager and three soms (4 MANAGERS) but after being merged with 3 other postcode areas we just have 2 SOMS now , RM wanted 1 CMA put pressure on RM.

We`ve had that many over the last two years and had 3 in the last 4months.
They all come with big ideas and how they are going to sort out this underperforming business unit blah blah, usual worktime propaganda on how crap we all are at our jobs and try saying how they will save hours only to see a huge rise in sickness everytime and walks having to be done by the lino`s. :left:

Same chaos at our office. Absolutely failed big time this morning. More mail left unsorted than went out on delivery.

For months now every vacancy has been filled with a part-timer thus losing the IPS content of that duty. :d'oh!

For 30 minutes this morning the IPS was abandoned due to the assigned duties being down-graded to part time and there were two managers just stood there scrathing their rear ends. :cuppa

We have a new DOM for the last about 6 weeks - he's a nice enough bloke - but like all Managers at RM he fills a post. The two guys who used to manage in the absence of the old DOM refused to do it and were threatened with being moved but in fairness they stuck to their guns and the new guy was shunted in and they are still here. Things aren't any different but then why would they be, there is a corporate line which they all have to adhere to and so the real issues and problems are never addressed. Come hell and high water the whatever is the plan will be followed - take the work plan - people aren't allowed out until 9.30 during Christmas and no matter how light the workload and how soon the posties are ready to go they are kept hanging around for an hour or so, but why? Because the work plan says so - never mind what local conditions are whereby an on the spot and ad hoc decision could be taken by a guy who probably earns 40k a year - no follow the work plan.

Thats what happened in one of our offices today. Everyone nearly had kittens as the DOM found a 1/2 yorkie full of mail not yet sorted, but all he did was look through it and checked it with the Lineo. Just hope its all cleared before Christmas Eve or its going to be a long day. Long term Postie says we have an agreement that whatever comes in Christmas Eve has to go out. :pray :pray :pray :pray :pray

In my experience most managers lack the ability to make unilateral decisions, therefore thier only
course of action is to refer to work plan.
A very sad inditement on the managerial levels prevailent in RM.

We always get out early as the walks are so long and still there are cut off's most days so now I expect to work to time and cut off nearly every day.

This job is becoming more and more grief as I have to argue with the screws every day as to how much I'm going to leave,I think they are hoping I will just cave in and stay out there all day to finish but i now have to get used to the fact that i will have to have a daily argument with the screws.

We are not paid to argue and debate that is the screws job but it seems they are trying to push their job onto us whilst every day when I come back to the office the screws have gone home and they always have their break in the morning and the majority of posies skip theirs.

Welcome to 21st century RM.

Managers , D.O.M's = Dick heads.

D.o.m's and managers are a standing joke in most offices and M.C's
The majority are clueless failures ushered into positions of responsibility that would be better served by employing a village idiot.
I find it absolutely bewildering that these people are in positions of responsibility when most of them display their incompetence frequently.
It's fair to state that the majority are incapable of a genuine days work.
Man management is something from another time to them.
When will R.M. get a 'witchhunt' going for these overpaid shirkers.

We have a part-time postman in our office made up to deputy manager so now we have a manager, assistant manager and a deputy manager for 45 posties needless to say managers mate crawling bstrd a real bug bear for our guys been at the manager for months to get him back to p/t now he says he will be going back down just as a vacancy comes up and he is next in line (only cause his som told him) but membership have said make duty p/t and we have been told we have to many hours indoor so when they come back looking for hours thats where they can get them we dont want that spy working next to us. 3 managers we must take a lot of watching.
