Surprised there's any going ahead before Royal Mail decide what they want to do to be honest. If they remove oversized out of our deliveries it's said 20% of walks will be collapsed rendering any resign redundent. Our office keeps asking for one as there's new developements all over the place unattached to any frames or duties.

I would genuinely, really like someone to explain how some of these walks are designated as Full-time and part-time.
Currently on a walk with 650 stops... it's a PT walk..... many FT duties with far less and therefore a lot less prep required.... you know, the ones that are out the door by 9am, an hour ghosting and still back by 130.
Which office is this? I want a transfer! My delivery takes 6 hours! Get hammered with Amazon parcels!JKSmudge wrote: ↑30 Jan 2021, 17:51As per usual...

Full time do IPS in morning, walks themselves should be roughly the same size.

It means that if you have been on the same walk for 20 years and have done 20 years service and someone else has done 20 years and 1 day service then they could pick that walk before you.

They usually do anything they can to avoid one
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Also the walk content might change where bits could get added from neighbouring walks and bits taken off and added to neighbouring walksfrankieboy wrote: ↑01 Feb 2021, 17:06It means that if you have been on the same walk for 20 years and have done 20 years service and someone else has done 20 years and 1 day service then they could pick that walk before you.

Re: What does a full revision normally entail?
Are you sure you're going to have a FULL Revision? When was the last time your Office had one?
I know they're talking about TABLETOP Revisions, which are a lot less "Emotional".
If you're having a Full Revision it involves a lot of messing about with your Duties. As mentioned it can be a good thing for those Posties that have been lumbered with MASSIVE Duties for years .... and it obviously upsets the "Old & Bold" that have been cruising along on a really easy duty for the same time.
That's why most DOMs, and Posties would rather not have one. All the Duties have to be resigned for. It goes on Seniority, and if your FT you sign for a FT duty and the same for PT. A Senior PTer isn't eligible to sign for a FT duty.
We're looking at a Tabletop Revision (where you're simply making some minor adjustments here, and there. Although this could be an hours work). It's not so stressfull because everyone remains on their duties and just gets the changes on their frame.
I believe we'll be looking at Annual Tabletop Revisions in the future. Which is no bad thing if you're having new builds popping up all over the place. I also believe that you've got to have completed a Tabletop Revision to Trigger the extra hour off the working week.

I reckon even if an office is having a tabletop revision with all the other things that will change such as start times because of the hour less, parcel duties being put in etc. And possibly new duty structures maybe including Sunday working in some of them it will result in an office repick.

Re: What does a full revision normally entail?
No. It causes aggro for RM especially if residents of some walks start up petitions and local press campaigns to keep ' their postie'. I think its union policy to have a full resign if there are major percentage changes so RM have to grin & bear it. Personally I would say it would be fairer to let posties swap walks if they wanted to than force the chaos that is mandatory seniority based resigns.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

Re: What does a full revision normally entail?
A few years ago we had a revision in my office, the planners were both leaving RM after my offices revision and they seemed to make it as difficult as possible. Inappropriate comments were made to me and my partner by said planners, things about my bum that I would never repeat. They had us walking up hills, doubling back on ourselves and on each other. Total sticky mess. When we explained that this way of doing the duty simply wouldn't work to said planners they just ignored us! After an unsuccessful week of doing it their way they came back in and we related the same issues as before and my partner and I were stunned to get the reply "You should have told us this before!"

Get on with it
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
