I question the relevance of signatories that live three hundred miles away and have never heard of the village or school. Also, the petition is badly worded, that the school "is not closed", what, for the Christmas holidays ?

I live and work in London, I hate the thought of any school having to close and would sign a petition to keep one open even if it were in the Orkney Islands. Same goes for post offices, hospitals, anything that impacts on the social fabric of a community of which such closures would have an adverse effect.
As for the wording of the petition, I understood it to mean that the school would close forever, not temporarily, for this is rip-off Britain, when something like a school, or a hospital, or a post office, even a fire station, goes, it's gone for good, and that's simply not good enough. :cuppa
