Re: Breaks
Only now that pay and conditions are being attacked (albeit in a long game kind of way) are people thinking about doing the job properly.
Not taking breaks.
Cars on delivery
Starting early unpaid
It's a bit late now.

Re: Breaks
take my break everyday no problem
, why would you work 5-6 hrs on delivery without anything to eat or a sit down ? , or do an extra loop instead ? , its beyond me
, when your clocking off it wont say well he/she hasnt had a break they will just look at the time you clocked out and the cwu should be telling members to do the job right , and i also think its time people gave there head a bang and wake up to what is doing to happen and start doing the job right as you would anywhere else . DO THE JOB RIGHT .

Re: Breaks
What are you supposed to do on the street for 40 mins. Everywhere is closed and we are told off for idling the van, which is being tracked with trimble. So we should sit in the van, cold, wet, with the heating off? Or drive back to the office for the canteen? If the latter, your break starts when you get to the office driving isn't a break, that could be 1 hour of time. What about walkers who may be 30+ mins walk away?worktotime wrote: ↑07 Feb 2021, 18:57take my break everyday no problem, why would you work 5-6 hrs on delivery without anything to eat or a sit down ? , or do an extra loop instead ? , its beyond me

Re: Breaks
like i said we have our break everyday regardless either we take half our break before we leave the office and take the other outside or the full break outside and yes we do sit in the van , we take pack up , or chippy and sandwich shop and not eveywhere is closed , and so be it if you have to go back to the office for your break or a toilet then you either finish on time and take stuff back or claim the o/t for going over to complete , and when p&l came in all dutys should have had toilet stops and meal stops built in to the deliverys . and if not then thats there problem and not yours .Jamiemccloy wrote: ↑07 Feb 2021, 20:04What are you supposed to do on the street for 40 mins. Re: Breaks
Each to their own. Personally I'd rather work through, stay warm and leave early and just take snacks in my pocket! We had 20 mins indoor, 20 mins off the end until covid which was fine but obviously can't have 40 folk using the canteen every morning now!

Re: Breaks
Depending on how the SWW gets implemented this time around, breaks could actually get shorter, depending on the new attendance lengths for different days

Re: Breaks
Before I started at RM I worked at a company that you had to swipe your card when you started your break and again when you'd finished it and this was pre 2000 so the technology has been there for decades its just this company and union that don't want to do this properly because both stand to loose out massively.worktotime wrote: ↑07 Feb 2021, 18:57when your clocking off it wont say well he/she hasnt had a break they will just look at the time you clocked out and the cwu should be telling members to do the job right

Re: Breaks
Explain how that would happen SP? There's obviously differences for Processing, but the idea of the SWW is surely to simply work less time for the same pay, and Benefits? The Rewards of the introduction of Automation.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑07 Feb 2021, 22:30Depending on how the SWW gets implemented this time around, breaks could actually get shorter, depending on the new attendance lengths for different days
When we had the bikes taking a Meal Break in the Cold & Rain wasn't really realistic, however now we have Vans I can't see a major problem. Fair enough it might be a cold and miserable day but we're no worse off than many other Drivers who have to take their breaks in vehicles. At least we don't have to sleep in them like Truck Drivers!
At present a lot of Posties are booking 40 mins at the end of the day, and the DOMs paying it.
I feel it's very important, especially with Revisions Pending, that everyone shows just how much time it actually takes to Deliver their Duty PROPERLY. This includes Taking/Booking Meal Relief, Prepping Households in the Company's Time (Not your own)! Doing your Van Checks and now cleaning Touch Points. Otherwise it just makes it so easy for DOMs to look at the Finishing times and say, "That Duties easily done in the time perhaps it needs some work adding to it"? Don't go hiding Your Hard Work... Get paid for it.
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)

Re: Breaks
If you attendance on a given day drops below 7 hrs then you're only entitled to 30mins. It's the same for processing and deliveries. There might be local variations. Don't have the image to hand but somewhere on the forums there should (hopefully) be an image that has got the break entitlements for different shift lengthsDorset Plodder wrote: ↑08 Feb 2021, 08:42Explain how that would happen SP?
