I don't know the issues surrounding the six but if I ran a building company and one of my brickies was slagging me off in the pub while I was sat in there, I might not be so keen to keep him on. Its not an ideal comparison but RM would view it the same way. Its every man's right to withdraw their labour providing they accept that its also the employers right to withdraw theirs - or something like that. In any event, its far more likely that RM would swoop during a quiet patch than in the middle of a dispute with media coverage. With the builder scenario, I might weather the brickie with the mouth if I was in the middle of a big contract but once it expired, I'd be looking to dump the brickie and find another.

We may lose the ability to say EXACTLY what we mean, but try stopping us THINKING it, just try. Every tinpot dictator throughout history has attempted to control what people say, and yes, some have had limited success, but to stop people thinking, now that would be a first.

Now, I'll leave you to try and guess exactly what I think of our colleague's treatment, and the PETTINESS which seems to be a major character flaw in Royal fail management. :Very Happy

Spot on, as ever Harry!

Cheers IWW, mate. Unbelievable, 'aint it? The extraordinary levels of pettiness displayed by management, not to mention the sheer callousness of sacking colleagues in this, the season of goodwill, and the "couldn't care less about the rest of you lot" attitude displayed by businessmen no better than the meanest, nastiest, fascist bullyboy follower of Thatcherism. :evil/mad

On second thoughts though, who am I kidding? That sort of unsavoury behaviour from Royal Fail mis-management, is truly par for the course. :cool

I can take on board NT's corporate angle i.e. committment , loyalty etc , who pays your wages etc , however ! what's gone in Scotland ? sounds very, very petty & vindictive ( quell surprise ?) , there seems to be orders to followed to the letter from Senior Management , make a example of "someone to stiffen the resolve" etc .That was the justification for shooting shell shocked squaddies in WW1 commanded by a idiotic Butcher never mind Thatcher.

Plenty of idiots in Old St stuck in those glorious amoral years era and they've the nerve to call the union oldfashioned with a 70's command & control style for their subordinates because that's all they really are.

There's a few issues i.e. Public Interest Disclosure Act ( Basically Whistleblowing ) , would this stand up in a ET ? , would this be deemed as Saloon Bar Opinion ?& fair comment ? , is there detriment for Union Based activities on what is basically a union influenced site , if so ? , you'd be entitled to bring a complaint to ET .

Can RM prove that it was actually you that made comments without getting a Court Order for the ISP to provide personal details ? , you can't try & supposedly do bent fit ups & investigations to a predetermined outcome one minute to beyond all reasonable doubt which is the criminal standard of proof and then when it suits you go on the lesser standard of on the balance of probabilities based on suspicion ??

Secondly there's RM 's lack of joined up thinking in it's poor communication & it's propaganda machine with all the lazy , self centered posties pinching time etc . The Pro -RM forums with the legendary B****e 40 i.e. " I hope you can afford your SWP subscriptions & broadband bills out of your giros" , 40% underworked etc, etc, etc .

That negative , dictatorial style only furthers the them & us divide .

Don't think RM have thought this through properly , if there's mutiny in the ranks ; it's because people are p****d off with Captain Blyth . Also if you take RM's basis for it's actions to it's logical conclusions , where do you stop ?
