Re: Result
If part-time staff think this agreement will finally stitch up the full-time staff or somehow bring parity they are delusional.
This agreement is all about local solutions and who in your office do you honestly think will be driving those "solutions"?
Not the part-timers or the reserves or the newbies. Why do you think the union loves local agreements?
It maintains the status quo and keeps their key voter base happy.
I'm afraid if the part-timers want to see any change in the way they are treated they're going to have to get very vocal and very militant and be prepared to fight their own colleagues and union as well as management.
Not an easy task at all.

Re: Result
In that case the union needs to think very carefully where their priorities lie.
It's like p/t don't matter- they have presided slowly but surely over the last 10 years of no-one being made full time and all new contracts being p/t.
Pretty soon their core base will be p/t- what will they do then after not giving a s**t about us and looking after full time only.
As has been pointed out many times= reps are f/t and look after their own.
In our place we have 12 vacant duties, most of which for a year or more, p/t coming in and doing prep on o/t, and what does the rep do about getting them made up to f/t- sod all.
I'm not delusional, the union need to wake up and fast.

Re: Result
As an aside I've been a union member my entire working life, a union rep for almost 20 years as well as holding various branch positions (in between fall outs) but if I were a part-timer with Royal Mail I wouldn't waste my money.
That's not advice to anyone, I know how to protect myself and most people don't.
It makes sense for most people to have some level of protection even if you're treated like a second class member.

Re: Result
To be clear, I don't wish to see anyone stitched up in any way.
Just to go into work and feel like I'm not the only one who doesn't feel like they're owed a wage in some way.
And to have half a chance of finishing a duty in time, which quite frankly is impossible.
Balanced workloads seem to be reserved for the ones that cry the loudest and have the most sick time.
This is not an exaggeration.

I wouldn't even call it a part time vs full time thing in terms of who drives the local agreements/solutions. I'd split it down more accurately to about 20% of the full time members of staff.
Where I've worked in the past, part time staff are routinely mocked, called paranoid and even rounded on, for simply wanting a fair slice of the pie.
Full time staff who are decent enough to help out the newbies/fight for a fairer deal for ALL are seen as troublesome. You can even see it on here.
So for you to confirm what everybody deep down already knows is helpful.
One of the main gripes that PT and reserve staff have is the way they are constantly lied to, not mislead, about changes to shift patterns etc.
We had a deal that actually cut hours from PT contracts, took hours out the office and the PT staff were told jobs would be at risk if the vote didn't go through. The upside to such a deal? A new and far improved shift pattern for most FT staff. Nothing more, nothing less.

Re: Result
I wouldn't say there is any animosity between p/t and f/t at ours.
P/t just tend to accept they get the s**t end of the stick.
Myself I will stand up for what I feel is unfair, but there's only so much you can do when you know deals are done on the side.
This is not paranoia, I know this for a fact.
Our DOM was holding meetings before any of the p/t (who don't come in early) had even started, I had to point it out to him that not everyone was there- how on God's earth could he not know that??!
Favourites in early supposedly to do stack, and they're first out the door- I wonder how that could possibly happen unless they're prepping their own walks when they shouldn't be, but nothing gets said.
2 full time in a pair both prepping walks when stack is finished, both throwing in when a guy partnered with a part timer has to do double, again it's like they just don't see it, or comprehend why they're out first and then give s**t to the poor buggers out last. (They must be slower, right?)
I point out why doesn't one of those throw the last tray in for the guy that has a part timer with him?
Nothing is done.
The whole place stinks of unfairness.

Re: Result
P/T have got a terrible deal here. I mean just wait until 5 day letter delivery, P/T and floats are basically screwed, god knows where they will end up. One thing is for sure, the union don't care. Also for F/T wait until your clocking in and out and getting tracked on your PDA, you're going to find out what Big Brother actually means. Once they see you not moving fast enough be sure that they will let you know and you can bet that once you are going to the speed RM expect, then your duty will not be big enough for your hours, so lets absorb a few duties and make other duties bigger.
No postie will benefit from this deal unless you take into account the pay rise bribe for RM to get everything they want.

Re: Result
It's being a reserve that bears the biggest pain more than being a Part Timer. However the two are usually inextricably linked. I'm wondering if PT will be first on the selection list to cover 'Dedicated Parcel Deliveries' that will come into effect from this new agreement. With 28 days notice they might find their 5 hours a day covers delivering 100+ parcels between 4-9pm.

Many of us also have smartphones capable of reading a QR code and could vote in seconds without leaving the house.DORSET##CENTRE wrote: ↑03 Feb 2021, 16:41as I put on a different post
48% not voted ?
we all work in a Royal Mail Building ,so have access to a post box .
some may be of sick ,but still get a delivery ,so could hand it to them or this time vote on line
we should be in this day and age be returning 100% of votes ,either YES / NO or if people don't care an invalid vote.
what will the UNION do about this ?? probable nothing
may be TRUMP could look in to the missing votes

Usually, you have to be employed on the date of implementation, not the date its backdated too.the.postman wrote: ↑05 Feb 2021, 09:26Employed for 37yrs.
