Re: Result
Not sure how it can get worse, knackered every day and often working overtime or having to cut off. So I will be doing my hours only and cutting off not my problem

An extra loop, 1hr off your working week and a £500 back hander..we are in a global pandemic you need to see the bigger picturecitypostie wrote: ↑03 Feb 2021, 19:46Well if that's the case they are idiots! If the 24 "unknowns" was such an issue to people they should have voted no. Re: Result
As a part timer it cannot get any worse. Its the full timers with the easy walks who will have a reckoning. Why would us part timers care, the union doesn't care about us.

Re: Result
I do wonder if a large % of the non turnout is down to part timers. Most of them here are in the union, I think when they go for the induction they realise it’s best to join but only 3 out of about 10 I spoke to knew about the dispute and I had my doubts whether 1 of those 3 would’ve voted anyway. I think the word I’m looking for is disenchanted.
The union have constantly ignored the plight of part timers. It will play into the hands of Royal Mail as more FT staff retire. In 5/10 years when there’s more PT staff than FT staff I wonder how the union hope to engage with those they’ve ignored?
None of this is a criticism of those on FT hours by the way.
If I was offered FT hours I think I’d reject it now. The worst RM could do to me is make me start and finish on the street but that’s still only a maximum 5 hour delivery. I regularly do OT and average a 6 hour delivery.
Still want my average holiday pay though......
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Re: Result
If Monday to Friday letters comes in what would be the easiest solution in delivery offices? Have Full timers working Monday to Friday and have part timers covering the weekends? Also the majority of people doing the cover duties for days off are part time. There could be a few parr timers that didn't bother voting because it couldn't get any worse and it'll only affect easy full time duties that might regret that within the next couple of years!

Re: Result
Bigger picture looks like a royal mail will be going in dry the next couple of years unless you've got a really good rep who knows what they are doing and how to work the system to their offices advantage. You can be paying a large price for that golden carrott of £500bensonhedge wrote: ↑03 Feb 2021, 21:51An extra loop, 1hr off your working week and a £500 back hander..we are in a global pandemic you need to see the bigger picturecitypostie wrote: ↑03 Feb 2021, 19:46Well if that's the case they are idiots! Re: Result
This is part of the problem. Full timers attitude to part timers. It is assumed we are just slaves, particularly the reserves who don't have a life. We'll just work any day with later start times on 27 hour contracts because we're that desperate or job is so great! I don't think so.citypostie wrote: ↑04 Feb 2021, 06:57Have Full timers working Monday to Friday and have part timers covering the weekends?

Re: Result
This guy gets it. Every office should have a union rep who is a part timer. This way the union would have true power going forward. As it is it is dying from rep self interest.HTPostman wrote: ↑04 Feb 2021, 04:49I do wonder if a large % of the non turnout is down to part timers. Re: Result
Whether you’re part time or full it’s irrelevant, the problem is the thick and idle people you work with. I’ll bet you the majority of ANY office didn’t read the agreement in full, either because they couldn’t be bothered or wouldn’t understand it if they did. Can’t tell you how many times I was asked what was in it or if it was any good. Can’t see the point of paying union subs if you aren’t going to exercise your vote in something as important as this.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Oh and to add, I’d like to bet the majority of the yes vote didn’t read it either. Money talks as they say.

Re: Result
Which means the union needs to sort it out rather than letting it continue as usual. Or are you saying tough you've had it so deal with it? And no I'm not a part timer, I just feel the union always leave them out of everything and you know it.Chelseablue wrote: ↑04 Feb 2021, 15:51Btw some of us f timers have been through for years what some of youve been through.
Also what happened to the union saying that pay was a seperate matter. Why was it even included in this? Its obvious anything would be voted through if a pay deal is attached. Always the way, colleagues get enticed by money knowing they will get backpay all the way to the previous year. RM know most staff are desperate for money so backpay always gets people no matter the cost.

Re: Result
Or look at it another way- a part-timer might look at an hour off and think "there's another rise for me if it happens".
Let's face it p/t (of which I am one) get royally shat on most of the time, so here is a chance to get at least some more parity.
Not saying I agree with this going through, personally I think it's the biggest stitch up there's ever been (and the union has presided over some pretty poor deals over the years).
Time will tell but I have a bad feeling about what's coming our way.
