I and 4 others work near a colleague who tested positive a week ago. We were informed by boss that we are not to isolate unless of course we receive a message from Test & Trace but can take unpaid leave if we feel safer . As our colleague had not been in office for 4 days since he tested positive no cleaning was required due to a 72 hr rule that Government advise about last contact with the individual that’s what boss says and union rep backed him.

I got a text message of the track and test. Nhs told me to self isolate for 10 days

I could be wrong but anyone I know in the office that had leave booked but had to isolate did not get their leave back but if you tested positive you got it back. Hopefully someone can confirm either way.

Moved into Covid area - there are a few LTBs etc in here that may offer assistance. But as they would only be your/my/others interpretation of them, the best advice is to contact HR to get their advice.

I'm sorry to say that you will not be able to re-book your leave. Royal Mail will use the opportunity to save themselves money. If you were off with positive Covid19 then you would be classed as on sick leave and as a consequence, your booked leave would be credited back to you.
However, if you are now self-isolating due to someone other than you testing positive, then you will not be able to have your leave credited back.
I know because I have just gone through the exact same situation except it was my wife who tested positive first, on my first day of planned leave. I rang in to inform my manager that a) Track and Trace had been in contact to tell me to self isolate for 10 days and b)to cancel my AL . He said fine ,he would do so. I tested positive myself 6 days later .
The day before I was due back, the office CWU rep called me to say that the Annual Leave was not going to be given back. Area rep also said unfortunately that is how RM view the situation. And that is what happened.
Hardly makes you want to come back too soon after your isolation period finishes does it !!!

Thank your lucky stars you have a job that pays sick pay if you do get self isolation you could always use that depending on your sick record while others may not have the opportunity to do so!
