Firstly they are not compulsory. You can wear your own you if feel more comfortable with that.
What hard physical manual labour are you talking about?

it was noticed on the invoice in the box we got....'made in china'. that raised a few comments. conspiracy theorists had a field day in ours.

8hrs portering in a busy MCclashcityrocker wrote: ↑28 Jan 2021, 16:38Firstly they are not compulsory. You can wear your own you if feel more comfortable with that.

8hrs scanning and lifting heavy & large parcels in a bullring
8hrs operating an ILSM humping 10kg letter trays all day.
Just 3 for example.

The people who get away with avoiding the above types of heavy work will need to start taking their turn on it. (1hr rotation as per risk assesments)
And......going forward it is to be surgical mask for casuals and RM issue or surgical mask for royal mail employees
No bandanas or scarves or individual facemasks will be permitted.
And those claiming exemption can now be asked to provide proof thanks to a joint RM / CWU agreement.

Same for a CSS
All MCs only have a very few staff mech trained (CSS/iLSM/IMP/CFC/T2K). Don't know about PSMs.
In MCs (at least locally) all primary small packet sorting is done on powered conveyors

It is time to even out the score ........
There may have been highly vocal types on here pro-masking.
Now it is time to drag them into equal workload allocation.
Yes yes......they have mouthed off about "facemasks" now thèy will enter the world of triple ply (insecticide treated) RM official issue facemasks, and subsequently be dealt the severe psychological blow of actually having to rotate with casuals on the heavy work.
And no royal mail manager can help them evade it!
They will be brought before a tribunal for anything less than an equal sharing out of heavy workloads.
After all if " it is easy to feel the resistance to air flow through them when compared to many other face coverings" is the name of the RM game...... then we must push for equality of work allocation? Surely..........

Again for the hard of understanding.
Wearing the RM branded face coverings is not mandatory.

A non-story.
Nobody claimed they were medical grade ppe.
They are washable, reusable face coverings, to reduce transmission.

We’ve been told to wear the RM mask when possibly facing a customer, knocking on a door etc.
