Re: Testing of rounds
How about getting the manager to do the route with the postie ghosting them to make sure they follow correct procedures, the postie gets to pick the day, could be interesting!

Re: Testing of rounds
Have the revision overseen by an external manager (to the office). Ok it might still be s**t but at least then there's no risk of bias

Re: Testing of rounds
God if only!! They simply aren’t interested in that and that can’t be right, any business surely would want to be transparent on this issue,it’s the biggest gripe I have with this firm,we’ve just let things slip and now it’s too late, they are more than happy to let us bitch amongst ourselves as to who’s round is bigger etc,yes I get it it we’re all different, different ways of working, quicker, slower etc,it’s doing the job correctly, goes back to the old conversation, start time, meal breaks, delivery procedures adhered to,van checks,a constant battle all the time,in offices up and down the country, and now it’s trial by pda actuals, lots of threats of wanting to swap rounds etc,but sadly never materialised because of the obvious may have to work somewhat longer, but still within your hours

Can you imagine if this actually happened? I would happily bet my job that over 80% of walks in my office would definitely not be achievable within our duty hours if correct procedures were followed.
And they have the cheek to continue to not only lapse more walks but randomly send people back out with more who happen to get back a bit early.

Re: Testing of rounds
What would you define as a bit early? If it’s two hours then they’re asking for trouble!

Re: Testing of rounds
On two different rounds over the years the person doing the tests went back to the office early because it started to rain! On another occasion I was delayed going out because the tester took over 30 minutes choosing a good bike to ride on! You couldn't make this up!
And of course if a round is deemed to be too big when its adjusted through a revised you never get to choose it as its gone by the time it gets to you to pick a round!

Re: Testing of rounds
It’s a funny one experience.
We’ve someone here who’s approaching 40 years service, but is proud of the fact they’ve only ever done their round. That’s right, never ever moved onto another round. Obviously over the 40 years extra streets will have been added. But that person is considered very experienced even though they don’t even know IPS!
Ive been here 2 and a half years, know 40 rounds (rural, park and loops, town jobs), know IPS but am considered inexperienced.
I’d be more than happy to give my views to management on rounds, I walk fast and always have but don’t rush, don’t drive with Mail in the front of the van or without my seatbelt on, start on time take my breaks etc. But as usual those higher up don’t engage with us.

The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Haha. With 40 years of revisions it’s probably like Trigger’s broom in Only Fools And Horses.

Re: Testing of rounds
This is exactly what I have been saying. If all of a sudden we were all to work properly I mean ZERO corner cutting, following the right procedures These would be properly written 739s, recorded deliveries, no door stepping, no garden hopping and more. There are maybe a couple of achievable walks that I can think of assuming that meal relief will be taken accordingly (2x20min) and people will leave the DO no later than 9:30. Half of these duties/walks are driving duties.mjd24 wrote: ↑24 Jan 2021, 10:56sorefeet17 wrote: ↑23 Jan 2021, 22:03How about getting the manager to do the route with the postie ghosting them to make sure they follow correct procedures, the postie gets to pick the day, could be interesting!
