Hope my depot's managers are pro-active from tomorrow challenging those not wearing masks and/or not wearing them correctly, it feels like non-compliance has got worse this past week or so, right when we need them the most with this nasty strain that spreads more easily.
There was a news article where iirc it was Germany who are insisting on the use of only the surgical masks or the N whatever the number is masks and any home made or reusable ones have been banned.

While checking PPE on the HSE website yesterday I noticed that general face masks are not classed as PPE due to the lack of standards. The masks that you mention have standards and can be part of PPE.

so if you have asthma and a face mask would restrict the amount of oxygen you breath in how do you prove that ?
Oximeter.

Don't be daft. That would prove that their oxygen sat levels don't drop to dangerous levels with a mask on.

What they are after is some way to fiddle an excuse to exempt themselves from wearing a mask so that they can kill a colleague or two.

Goodness.

New York Times (Jan. 24, 2021) ~ Britain’s Alarm Over Virus Variant Bolsters Case for Lockdown
During his briefing at Downing Street on Friday, Mr. [Boris] Johnson, some noted, had little choice but to confirm concerns that the new variant pummeling Britain was not only more contagious but also may be more lethal. Hours earlier, a prominent epidemiologist, Neil Ferguson of Imperial College London, told a TV journalist, Robert Peston, that a government scientific committee had concluded that it was a “realistic possibility” that the variant could be 30 percent more lethal than the original version of the coronavirus.
There are scientists questioning the validity of the findings of the new variant's lethality because of the current limited data, but as more data comes forth it seems some of those scientists are becoming concerned.

Other countries now making ffp masks mandatory in the work place and supermarkets, face coverings no good with the new variants. How long will we be expected to risk ourselves untill were provided with the proper protection

Yes, Horrible to wear, smell of glue when new and give you a sore throat. Much prefer the disposable type.
